Project Director - Shell Project Potentially (Oman)

Position Title: Project Director

Location: Muscat, Oman (with travel to project sites as required)

Role Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the delivery of major projects for a strategic Shell account in Oman. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, profitable, and successful execution of large and mega-scale projects, ensuring alignment with Shell's technical, operational, HSSE, and project governance requirements.

The Project Director will serve as the primary leadership interface with Shell, providing overall direction to multidisciplinary project teams while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, commercial performance, and stakeholder engagement.

This role is an excellent opportunity for experienced Worley leaders who have successfully delivered projects for Shell and are looking to contribute to the growth and execution of our expanding portfolio in Oman.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

• Provide overall leadership and accountability for the execution of large-scale EPCM, EPC and Integrated Project Delivery contracts.
• Lead project teams through all phases including concept, FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction support, commissioning and start-up.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with contractual obligations.
• Drive project performance through effective planning, governance, risk management and execution strategies.
• Champion a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with Shell's HSSE requirements and Life Saving Rules.

Client & Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary senior interface between Worley and Shell leadership teams.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with Shell stakeholders across technical, project and commercial functions.
• Lead executive-level project reviews, steering committee meetings and performance discussions.
• Ensure client satisfaction through proactive communication, transparency and effective issue resolution.

Commercial & Financial Management

• Maintain full accountability for project profit and loss performance.
• Manage forecasts, project controls, change management and commercial negotiations.
• Ensure robust management of risks, opportunities and contract obligations.
• Drive successful delivery of lump sum, reimbursable and mixed-contracting projects.

People Leadership

• Lead and develop multidiscipline project teams in a diverse, multinational environment.
• Mentor and develop Project Managers and future Project Directors.
• Build a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on accountability, delivery excellence and employee engagement.
• Support strategic workforce planning and resource optimization.

Operational Excellence

• Apply Worley and Shell project delivery systems, procedures and governance processes.
• Drive continuous improvement and lessons learned across the project lifecycle.
• Ensure quality, technical integrity and compliance throughout project execution.
• Support business development activities and future Shell opportunities within Oman and the wider region.

Experience & Qualifications Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 20 years of industry experience.
• Minimum 15 years in Project Management leadership roles.
• Demonstrated experience leading large or mega projects in the Energy, Chemicals or Resources sectors.
• Proven delivery experience on Shell projects.
• Strong knowledge of Shell project delivery processes, governance requirements and HSSE expectations.
• Experience managing EPCM and EPC projects.
• Experience in multicultural and multinational project environments.
• Strong commercial acumen with proven success in project financial management.
