Job Purpose

The Senior CMMS Engineer shall be responsible for the development, implementation, optimization, and maintenance of the Computerized Maintenance Management System for offshore oil and gas facilities. The role shall ensure that asset registers, equipment hierarchy, maintenance strategies, preventive maintenance programs, spare parts, Bills of Materials and associated maintenance master data are accurate, complete, and aligned with Company requirements, international standards, and asset integrity objectives.
The Senior CMMS Engineer shall work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, Integrity, Projects, Commissioning, and IT teams to ensure effective utilization of SAP, IBM Maximo, or equivalent Enterprise Asset Management systems throughout the asset lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, review, and optimize CMMS master data for offshore facilities, including platforms, wellhead towers, process facilities, utilities, pipelines, and associated equipment.
  • Develop and maintain the asset register, functional location hierarchy, equipment hierarchy, equipment master records, class and characteristics, measuring points, task lists, maintenance plans, and BOMs.
  • Ensure equipment hierarchy and asset classification are established in accordance with Company requirements and applicable standards such as ISO 14224.
  • Develop and implement preventive, predictive, condition-based, and corrective maintenance strategies within the CMMS.
  • Review and optimize Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs based on equipment criticality, operating experience, vendor recommendations, maintenance history, and reliability studies.
  • Support Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA/FMECA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and asset criticality assessments.
  • Translate approved maintenance strategies into CMMS maintenance plans, task lists, job plans, frequencies, resources, materials, and work instructions.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance data for mechanical, rotating, static, electrical, instrumentation, control, telecom, safety, and utility systems.
  • Review vendor documentation, equipment data sheets, P&IDs, equipment lists, drawings, operating manuals, maintenance manuals, spare parts lists, and project documentation for CMMS data development.
  • Coordinate CMMS data collection, cleansing, validation, migration, upload, and quality assurance activities.
  • Perform bulk data preparation and upload activities using approved CMMS/EAM templates and tools.
  • Develop and maintain equipment BOMs and spare parts associations and coordinate with Materials and Maintenance teams for spare parts optimization.
  • Support identification and classification of critical equipment and Safety/Environment Critical Elements, where applicable.
  • Ensure maintenance requirements for safety-critical equipment are correctly captured and controlled within the CMMS.
  • Review existing work-order history, equipment failures, PM compliance, backlog, and maintenance performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor CMMS and reliability KPIs including PM compliance, maintenance backlog, equipment availability, MTBF, MTTR, overdue work orders, and failure trends.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and management information from CMMS data to support maintenance and reliability decision-making.
  • Provide technical support to offshore maintenance planners, supervisors, engineers, and operations personnel in effective CMMS utilization.
  • Support maintenance planning and scheduling activities for routine maintenance, shutdowns, turnarounds, campaigns, and major equipment overhauls.
  • Coordinate with project, commissioning, and operations teams for CMMS handover of new, modified, or upgraded facilities.
  • Ensure all new equipment and modifications introduced through projects or Management of Change (MOC) are incorporated into the CMMS before operational handover.
  • Review CMMS deliverables from EPC contractors, vendors, and third parties and ensure compliance with project and Company requirements.
  • Participate in CMMS data verification, system audits, readiness reviews, commissioning, start-up, and handover activities.
  • Identify CMMS data quality issues and implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain CMMS procedures, workflows, guidelines, templates, and work instructions.
  • Provide coaching and technical guidance to junior CMMS engineers, planners, and maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure all activities comply with Company HSE requirements, offshore operating procedures, asset integrity requirements, and applicable international standards.

Min Qualifications & Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering or equivalent from an accredited university with a minimum of fifteen (15+) years of relevant experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry, including minimum five (5) years (preferred) in GCC region.
  • Must have at least three (3) years of experience in similar position for international major Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects.
  • PMC & ADNOC experiences are required.
  • Required experience in FEED & EPC Phases of Oil/Gas Projects.
  • Offshore project experience is required
  • Professional certification in Maintenance/Reliability/Asset Management is preferred.
  • CMRP, CRE, SAP PM, IBM Maximo, or equivalent certification will be an advantage.
  • Strong experience with SAP PM, IBM Maximo, or equivalent CMMS/EAM systems.
  • Experience in Greenfield and Brownfield offshore projects, operations, maintenance, commissioning, and asset handover is highly desirable.
  • Experience in CMMS data build, master data management, data migration, cleansing, validation, and system implementation projects.

  • The candidate shall have strong knowledge and practical experience in:

  • Maintenance Plans and Task Lists.
  • Equipment BOM and Spare Parts Management.
  • Maintenance Data Build and Master Data Management.
  • Work Order Management.
  • Maintenance Planning and Scheduling.
  • Reliability and Maintenance KPIs.
  • MTBF, MTTR, equipment availability and failure analysis.
  • Shutdown/Turnaround maintenance.
  • Project-to-Operations CMMS handover.
  • Engineering drawings, P&IDs, equipment data sheets and vendor documentation.
  • Advanced MS Excel and data analysis tools; Power BI knowledge is an advantage.

Offshore Requirements

  • Familiarity with offshore production platforms, wellhead towers, process facilities, utilities, rotating/static equipment, electrical systems, instrumentation and control systems.
  • Understanding of offshore maintenance constraints including logistics, personnel-on-board limitations, shutdown windows, permit-to-work requirements, and simultaneous operations.
  • Must be medically fit and capable of travelling to offshore facilities when required.
  • Valid offshore safety certifications such as BOSIET/HUET/H2S, where required by Company regulations, will be an advantage.
