YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase Facility Housekeeping

Position:  Facility Housekeeping Technician        Pay Rate $16.50 per hour At the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington, we’re more than just a gym — we’re a cause-driven organization committed to strengthening our communities. The YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase is seeking reliable, hardworking Full-Time and Part-Time Facility Housekeeping Technicians to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our members, guests, and staff. This position plays an important role in ensuring our facility is well-maintained and ready for daily operations, programs, and special events.  Essential Responsibilities Perform cleaning and housekeeping duties in accordance with YMCA standards and procedures. Keep assigned areas clean, organized, and free of trash and debris. Assist with room set-up and breakdown for meetings, programs, and special events. Monitor and maintain cleaning chemical storage rooms. Monitor and maintain bulk trash storage areas. Assist with laundry functions as needed. Respond promptly to spills, accidents, and housekeeping emergencies. Operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively, including vacuums, buffers, and similar custodial equipment. Follow all safety procedures when handling cleaning supplies and equipment. Report maintenance or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications One year of relevant housekeeping, custodial, or janitorial experience. Ability to perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Experience operating cleaning equipment, including vacuums, buffers, and similar equipment. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper mixing proportions, and safe usage. Knowledge of the maintenance and care of finished surfaces. Ability to respond appropriately to accidents, spills, and other housekeeping emergencies. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe environment. Must be capable of frequently standing, walking, climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, and crawling. Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Dependable with a positive work ethic and a team-oriented attitude.
