Music Instructor- Guitar

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Music Instructor specializing in Guitar to join our team.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. 

As a Music Instructor, you will be responsible for creating an enjoyable learning environment to inspire students and help them develop a strong foundation of music and instrument skills.

• →Developing lesson plans
• →Demonstrating sound, technical and artistic principles
• →Providing an impactful experience to students
• →Monitoring student progress
• →Communicating program information to students and parents

• You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
• You have 5 years of formal music training (preferred).
• You have 1-2 years of experience as a music teacher and/or teaching assistant.
• You are able to instruct beginning and intermediate level music classes
• You are excited to teach music classes for ages preschool through adult.
• You have a positive attitude and previous experience with varying ages and diverse populations.
• You firmly believe that the arts should be open to everyone regardless of artistic ability, experience, or financial circumstance.
• You are able and willing to take Child Abuse prevention on the first day as well as other online and in-person trainings as required.
• Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
