The Maintenance Lead Mechanic will oversee daily maintenance operations and ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all plant equipment and machinery. This hands-on leadership role is essential in supporting production operations, minimizing downtime, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and preventive maintenance.

~1 min read- →Lead, supervise, and coordinate the activities of maintenance mechanics and electricians.
- →Perform, assign, and oversee preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on facility and production equipment.
- →Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues quickly and accurately to minimize production downtime.
- →Ensure proper documentation of maintenance work, including work orders, logs, and equipment history.
- →Coordinate with production supervisors, engineers, and safety personnel to schedule maintenance tasks during planned downtime.
- →Train and mentor maintenance team members; assist with onboarding new staff.
- →Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards; actively promote and enforce safe work practices.
- →Manage spare parts inventory and work with procurement to ensure critical components are available.
- →Assist with capital projects, equipment upgrades, and machinery installations as needed.
- →Use CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to track tasks and performance metrics.
- →Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis of equipment failures.
Requirements

- Comfortable working in a noisy and physically demanding industrial environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in tight spaces for extended periods.
- High school diploma or GED; technical/vocational training in mechanical systems preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience, preferably in an aluminum mill or heavy manufacturing environment.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or lead mechanic role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with industrial safety protocols and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Proficient with CMMS software and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, etc.).
Nice to Have
~1 min read- Associate degree or certification in industrial maintenance, mechanics, or a related field.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) principles.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Full-time position with possible on-call availability for emergencies.
- Rotating shifts may be required, including weekends and holidays.
