We are seeking an experienced Relationship Manager to onboard, manage and grow relationships with participants of our Market Development Program across the exchange’s commodities derivatives markets.
This role is critical to managing client interactions while monitoring performance versus program requirements.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of exchange trading mechanics, market making strategies, and liquidity incentive structures, and will work closely with internal Product, Market Operations, Technology and Commercial teams to optimize participant performance and ultimately program returns to effectively deepen liquidity of Abaxx markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary relationship manager for designated Market Maker and Liquidity Development participants
- Build trusted, long-term partnerships with trading firms, proprietary trading houses, banks, and specialist market makers
- Gain a thorough understanding of Abaxx Market Development Program structure, client trading strategies, risk appetites, operational requirements, including infrastructure set up
- Work closely with Product Leads, CMO and Legal to launch new programs and revise existing programs to continuously deepen market liquidity while meeting budget constraints and business objectives
- Manage the rollout of any new program revisions, which includes socialising the new program parameters with participants before revising the program rules with legal, and then formally rolling out the new program on an agreed date
- Monitor market maker performance against program requirements (eg. Max Spread, Min Quantity, Min Volume thresholds etc)
- Actively seek market feedbackto optimize participation and ensure alignment between client objectives and exchange market quality goals
- In exceptional market conditions, collaborate with internal stakeholders to temporarily adjust program parameters eg. widen spreads, following consultation with market participants, to ensure continuous liquidity
- Work with internal (Market Operations, Product, Technology, Legal, Risk) and external stakeholders (eg. Technology vendors or CMs) to resolve any client issues
- Develop a deep understanding of all product contract chapters, exchange and clearing rules, order types, matching logic, and risk framework and settlement cycles
- Provide feedback to internal teams on market structure, contract design, and incentive effectiveness
- Identify opportunities to expand market maker participation across additional products or markets
- Support new product launches by securing and onboarding market development participants
- Coordinate onboarding, certification, and technical readiness with Market Regulation, Legal, Market Operations, Technology for market development participants and work with market development team to track enrolment.
- Understand the BAU workflow of the Market Development team and be able to utilise the various applications used for enrolment tracking, performance tracking and payout qualification
- Recommend infrastructure enhancements that can be justified to support deeper liquidity and improve performance goals
- Support rule changes, incentive revisions, and trading enhancements impacting market makers
- Prepare regular reports on market maker performance, incentive utilization, and liquidity outcomes
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management on liquidity strategy and client engagement
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, or a related field
- 2 to 5 years of experience in a client-facing or trading-related role within:

- Commodities or financial derivatives exchanges

- Investment banks or trading venues
- Strong understanding of exchange-traded derivatives and market making dynamics
- Solid knowledge of exchange trading workflows, order books, and market structure
- Strong commercial and relationship management skills
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret trading and liquidity data
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, market-driven environment
- Direct experience managing or participating in exchange market making programs
- Familiarity with incentive design and liquidity metrics
- Experience working with electronic trading systems and APIs
- Understanding of clearing, margining, and risk frameworks
