This position will provide support to our Medical Devices / Structural Heart business. Our medical devices help more than 10,000 people have healthier hearts, improve quality of life for thousands of people living with chronic pain and movement disorders, and liberate more than 500,000 people with diabetes from routine fingersticks. Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life through the design and provision of device and management solutions for the treatment of structural heart disease.
As the Facilities & EHS Manager you will be overseeing the Facilities and Maintenance, and EHS Departments at the Abbott Structural Heart, Caguas, PR site. This role is responsible for maintenance programs of facilities critical systems, site utilities, housekeeping services, Pest Control program, EHS & Infirmary, and site Security.

Develop facilities policies and practices.

Oversees maintenance strategies to ensure optimum equipment uptime including preventive/predictive maintenance, equipment reliability analysis, equipment obsolesce determination.

Through intermediate managers, direct space allocations, moves, and facilities construction, modification and maintenance.

Implements facilities policies and practices. • Hire, train, and motivate facilities staff and contractors.

Review and approve facilities related contracts and vendor qualifications.

Develop and monitor facilities related budgets.

Support all Divisional initiatives as identified by divisional management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.

Hires and retains a diverse, highly qualified staff and provides ongoing performance feedback. Sets goals which align to department plans and manages the execution of goals through coaching and mentoring. Maintains a safe and professional work environment.

Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements

Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

Lead and supervise site EHS and Facilities department personnel to assure compliance of the plant with all applicable regulations and policies. Interact with Abbott plants to ensure regulatory compliance, and consistent, effective EHS programs implementation. Implement EHS programs and processes for an approximate 600 employee’s organization in alignment with divisional and corporate objectives, standards and metrics. Responsible for successful completion of all regulatory EHS impactions within site operations. Leads and implements applicable programs to assure an adequate Safety Program within site, in compliance within all local and federal regulations as OSHA, PROSHA, EPA, EQB, Division, etc.

Establish and manage the Hygiene plant program to comply with internal policies and procedures and regulatory agencies

Facilitate the RCRA, Hazmat, HAZPOWER, DOT programs and training updates to the EHS Team to the Emergency Incident commander. Responsible for waste minimization and recycling program compliance to assure compliance with regulations and Corporate Technical Standard.

Responsible for the operational compliance of environmental program such as RCRA, Air, Water, pollution prevention for the manufacturing facility
Requirements
~2 min readBachelor’s degree in engineering.
Minimum of 6 years in an Engineering or operational role. Previous facilities or maintenance management experience.
Basic knowledge of applicable US non-US applicable regulations.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Experience selecting and managing vendors and contracts.
Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred. Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results. Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment. Strong interpersonal and project management skills. Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner. Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable.
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in both English and Spanish.
Knowledge of common office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
Available to travel approximately 15%.
