This position will provide support to our Medical Devices / Structural Heart business. Our medical devices help more than 10,000 people have healthier hearts, improve quality of life for thousands of people living with chronic pain and movement disorders, and liberate more than 500,000 people with diabetes from routine fingersticks. Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life through the design and provision of device and management solutions for the treatment of structural heart disease.
As the Lead Operational Excellence Engineer will be responsible for driving Operational Excellence initiatives across the site and representing the site within divisional Operational Excellence (OPEx) community and the Abbott Community of Practice. This position bridges tactical execution and the strategic alignment, ensuring site-level improvements are integrated with the divisional priorities and best practices.
Responsibilities

Act as site representative in divisional OpEx forums and Community of Practice, sharing learnings and adopting best practices.

Lead and coordinate site-wide continuous improvement initiatives aligned with divisional strategy.

Deliver Lean Sigma projects using DMAIC methodology to improve quality, reduce cycle time, and optimize cost.

Lead cross-functional teams to implement Operational Excellence tools and methodologies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Lead deployment of enterprise programs such as 6S, Gemba, Class A and Shingo principles.

Conduct internal and external benchmarking to identify improvement opportunities and measure success.

Mentor and coach colleagues on Lean and Six Sigma principles and problem-solving techniques.

Collaborate with divisional stakeholders to ensure site projects align with global standards and business objectives.

Recognized as an experienced Continuous Improvement Champion, delivering transformational change and continuous improvement within the Operational areas of the business whilst ensuring quality and compliance standards are maintained and improved.

Drive improvements in productivity, quality and cost by identifying and leading their own continuous improvement projects within the Operational areas of the facility.
Requirements

Minimum 6 years of experience in Production and/or Business Excellence.
Ability to effectively communicate cross functionally to assist with resolving Quality/Engineering issues.
Excellent written, verbal with resolving communication skills in both English and Spanish.
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees.
Knowledge of common office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
Ability to evaluate and lead resolution of complex process issues.
Lean Six Sigma Green belt or above qualification preferred.
Strong knowledge of statistical analysis.
