Job Summary

Absa Group Limited Financial Crime Oversight Committee has determined a need for a dedicated execution structure for all business units to drive the numerous initiatives in Africa covering all geographies and products.

A well designed and executed Financial Crime Risk Management Framework in-country is key to business sustainability and ultimately sustained growth in Africa. Working closely together with other stakeholders, the Financial Crime Operations Manager will execute on the asks of the financial crime related standards to ensure improvement in regulatory and reputational risk and will facilitate the ongoing understanding of the financial crime risk within the portfolio.

The Financial Crime Operations Team is responsible for:
(1) knowing and carrying out the requirements of the Financial Crime Risk Management and Compliance Programme and methodology, and
(2) ensuring that it is sufficiently resourced to meet this responsibility.

To support the Financial Crime Operations & Coo Governance and control manager, the Financial Crime Operations Team Leader is responsible to design, develop and maintain an adequate and appropriate control environment to allow the Business to adhere to the Financial Crime Risk Management and Compliance Programme and methodology.

The Financial Crime Operations Team Leader shall collaborate closely with the second line of defense on implementing and improving the Customer Due Diligence systems and controls, as well as remediating any non-conforming or ineffective systems and controls.

The Financial Crime Operations Team Leader shall ensure that, at all times, the Financial Crime Risk Management Framework of the bank is in accordance with the Group policies and procedures, Absa principal risks and local legislations and regulatory requirements.
