Job Summary
The Senior Business Manager PPB Pan-Africa role is responsible for working with the Executive leadership team in translating business strategies into executable outcomes and ensuring consistent, disciplined delivery across the organisation is progressed and reported on.The role acts as the bridge between strategy and execution, driving alignment across product, risk, technology, operations, and finance to ensure strategic priorities are effectively implemented and realised.
This role ensures that strategy moves beyond planning into measurable business impact, through structured execution, governance, and cross-functional orchestration.
- Translate busines strategy into clear execution roadmaps, priorities, and initiatives
- Define and embed execution frameworks, delivery models, and playbooks to support implementation.
- Ensure alignment between strategic objectives, business plans and functional execution.
- Drive clarity on “what needs to be done, by whom, by when, and how success is measured.
- Establish and manage a portfolio of strategic initiatives, ensuring prioritisation aligns with business value and resource capacity.
- Track and manage delivery across initiatives, including: Milestones, Dependencies, Risks and issues.
- Ensure effective trade-offs are made where competing priorities exist.
- Implement portfolio governance disciplines to maintain focus and delivery momentum.

- Resolve execution bottlenecks and misalignment between business and enabling functions.

- Define and embed execution governance structures, including:
- Decision forums
- Accountability frameworks
- Escalation protocols
- Clarify roles, responsibilities, and decision rights across stakeholders.
- Support the evolution of the operating model to enable effective strategy delivery.
- Ensure alignment between organisational design and execution requirements.
- Establish KPIs and metrics to track strategic execution progress and outcomes.
- Monitor performance against:
- Strategic objectives
- Financial targets
- Customer outcomes
- Provide transparency through dashboards and reporting.
- Ensure benefits realisation is clearly defined, tracked, and achieved.
- Support executive governance structures by:
- Preparing strategic progress reports
- Highlighting risks and issues
- Providing actionable insights
- Enable informed decision-making through data-driven reporting and analysis.
- Maintain strong alignment between executive intent and operational execution.
- Drive disciplined execution of transformation initiatives.
- Support change management by ensuring:
- Clear communication
- Stakeholder alignment
- Adoption of new processes or capabilities
- Promote a delivery-oriented culture focused on outcomes and accountability.
- Engage senior stakeholders across the business and enabling functions.
- Build strong relationships to enable collaboration and alignment.
- Influence decision-making without direct authority in matrix environments
Requirements
~1 min read- Post Graduate Degree: Honours Degree, Post Graduate Diploma and Professional Qualification (NQF8) (Preferably in Business/Commerce/Management studies).
- 8 – 12+ years’ experience in strategy execution and transformation delivery, managing complex, cross-functional programmes
- Working with senior leadership and executive stakeholders
- Experience in retail banking or lending environments is advantageous
- Proven track record managing complex, senior client relationships
- Strong exposure to operating model design and implementation
- Experience in financial services, consulting, or strategy execution roles
