π About the Role
In the face of New York’s opioid crisis, we’re not standing still—and neither should you.
We’re looking for a Substance Use Certified Peer Specialist who brings passion, lived experience, and a drive to make a real impact. In this role, you won’t just support recovery—you’ll walk alongside people on their journey, meeting them where they are (literally and figuratively).
From community outreach to clinic collaboration, you’ll help individuals connect to care, stay engaged, and build meaningful paths forward.
π What You’ll Do
No two days are the same—and that’s exactly how you like it.
Get out into the community to engage, support, and empower individuals in need
Provide crisis support, harm reduction resources (including naloxone), and education
Build relationships and connect people to recovery services and treatment
Partner with local organizations and municipalities to follow up on referrals
Lead or participate in community workshops and outreach events
Escort participants to appointments and be a steady, supportive presence
Collaborate with a passionate interdisciplinary team in our OASAS-licensed programs
Keep things organized with timely documentation in the EMR
π± What You Bring
A deep belief in recovery, harm reduction, and whole-person care
A passion for social justice, equity, and inclusion
Strong communication skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
Comfort working both in the community and in a clinical setting
π Qualifications
NY State Peer Certification (or Provisional Certification) required
High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s preferred
Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery
Strength, resilience, and the ability to connect through shared experience
πβοΈ What the Job Looks Like Day-to-Day
You’ll be on the move—traveling to homes, community sites, and clinics
Some days are in the field, some at a desk—but always people-centered
You’re comfortable navigating different environments and close teamwork
You’ll stay active, engaged, and connected throughout your day
β¨ Why Join Us?
Because this isn’t just a job—it’s a chance to:
Make a real, visible impact in your community
Be part of a mission-driven, supportive team
Use your story to inspire change and hope
Help shape a future where recovery is possible for everyone
