JOB OVERVIEW Profession: Physician Specialty: Orthopedic Surgery Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Mason City, Iowa Service Setting: Inpatient/Outpatient Coverage Type: Clinical + Call Coverage Period: Jun 23, 2026 – Ongoing Shift Schedule: Mon – Fri, 8a – 5p, with 24-hour call coverage Reason for Coverage: Supplemental Coverage Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance Covered COVERAGE DATES Jun 23, 2026 – Jun 26, 2026 Jul 03, 2026 – Jul 15, 2026 PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Hub Hospital serving 16 surrounding counties, population 200,000+ Average Daily Volume: 160 patients/day (hospital census) Admissions: Yes Rounding: Included Case Mix: Orthopedic surgery, joint replacement, trauma, sports medicine, fracture care FACILITY INFORMATION Trauma Level: Level 3 EMR System: Epic Support Staff Available: RNs, APPs (7), Cast Techs, Reception, Surgery Schedulers REQUIRED PROCEDURES Total hip, knee, and shoulder replacement Hand, wrist, knee, shoulder, hip, ankle, and foot surgical procedures Trauma injuries, fracture care, sports medicine, and other disorders JOB REQUIREMENTS Board: Board Certified (cannot accept Board Eligible) Licenses: Active Iowa License (no IMLC) Other Qualifications: Clean malpractice/background, must be able to cover the specified dates, proficiency in required procedures Duties & Responsibilities Provide clinical and surgical orthopedic care, including total joint replacements and trauma. Round on post-operative patients and perform inpatient/ED consults. Take 24-hour call coverage for orthopedic trauma and emergencies. Supervise advanced practice providers (APPs). Participate in teaching of IM and FM residents and PA students.
