Job Summary:
The Camera and Access Technician is a field service position responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing CCTV surveillance systems, access control systems, intercoms, and related security components. This role involves diagnosing system malfunctions, ensuring proper system functionality, and providing customer instruction on system use. Technicians must travel to various job sites, follow company policies, maintain detailed service records, and participate in an on-call rotation. Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality service are essential for success in this role.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair CCTV surveillance systems, access control systems, intercoms, and related software and components.
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of burglar and fire alarm systems as needed.
- Develop a thorough understanding of proper techniques for installing, maintaining, and testing residential and commercial security systems.
- Inspect and diagnose malfunctions in cameras and equipment using technical specifications and diagnostic tools.
- Document all tasks performed on individual accounts through detailed written reports.
- Participate in an on-call night rotation schedule, which varies based on department staffing levels.
- Interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, instructions, and specifications to determine repair needs, fabrication methods, and operation sequences.
- Instruct the customer in the proper use of their system.
- Read and follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the ADS Employee Handbook.
- Responsible to read and follow the ADS installation and service manuals.
- Must be punctual and adhere to attendance standards.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Education/Experience:
- High School Education or equivalent is required.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with electronic troubleshooting is required.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with computer networking is required.
- Electronics &/or computer training highly preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Understanding of fundamental electronics principles.
- Knowledge of computer networking, routing, switching & LAN topologies
- Proficiency in electronic troubleshooting using digital and analog Volt/Ohm/Amp meters.
- Ability to work independently, adapt to changing job requirements, and find creative solutions to technical challenges.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Commitment to high-quality workmanship and standards.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple service calls, and complete assignments within deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain system functions to customers and document service work accurately.
- Self-driven with a proactive approach to work.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Must be able to obtain a Permanent Employee Registration Card from the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
- Maintain a driver’s license, maintain an insurable driving record, and be capable of driving on company assignments.
- NICET video technician certification (Levels 1,2,3 and 4) is a plus.

Compensation:
The starting pay range for the Camera and Access Technician is $25-30 per hour, based on knowledge, skills, certifications, education, and experience.
