Job Summary:
Alarm Detection Systems is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Technician to join our team. This position is designed for a skilled technician with hands-on experience installing, inspecting, testing, servicing, programming, and troubleshooting fire alarm systems. The ideal candidate can work independently, interpret drawings and code requirements, identify and resolve system deficiencies, and confidently interact with customers, contractors, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs). This role requires a strong understanding of NFPA standards, life safety systems, and industry best practices, along with a commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Install, inspect, test, service, and repair fire alarm and life safety systems in accordance with NFPA standards, manufacturer specifications, engineered drawings, and applicable codes.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Install and bend conduit proficiently.
- Perform installations and service work independently with minimal supervision.
- Program, configure, diagnose, and troubleshoot a variety of fire alarm systems and related equipment.
- Identify code deficiencies, system impairments, and non-conformance issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Verify system functionality and complete pre-testing prior to AHJ inspections.
- Coordinate and attend rough and final inspections with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
- Prepare, review, and maintain records of completion, inspection reports, work orders, and other required documentation.
- Perform service calls and corrective repairs while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to after-hours service requests as required.
- Provide technical support and training to customers on the operation of fire alarm, security, CCTV, and access control systems.
- Complete required manufacturer certifications and factory training, including Honeywell and Fire-Lite product training.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked company vehicle and comply with all company vehicle policies.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain professional communication and positive working relationships with customers, AHJs, vendors, and coworkers.
- Maintain required licenses and certifications, including CSA Denver License.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience installing, inspecting, servicing, and troubleshooting commercial fire alarm systems.
- NICET Level II Certification.
- CSA Denver License.
- Working knowledge of NFPA 72 and applicable fire, building, and electrical codes.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and engineered drawings.
- Experience programming and troubleshooting fire alarm systems.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, NFPA 72 standards, applicable building and fire codes, and industry best practices.
- Ability to install, inspect, test, service, program, and troubleshoot fire alarm and life safety systems.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, engineered drawings, technical manuals, and specifications.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify system deficiencies and implement effective solutions.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, ladders, lifts, and other equipment required to perform job duties.
- Proficiency with computers, mobile devices, software applications, and electronic documentation systems used for inspections, service, and project management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare accurate reports, work orders, inspection documentation, and records of completion.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with customers, contractors, vendors, coworkers, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
- Ability to learn new technologies, products, and code requirements and maintain required certifications, licenses, and manufacturer training.
- Ability to maintain company tools, equipment, vehicles, and inventory in a safe, organized, and professional manner.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and respond effectively to emergency service situations.

- Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record

The work environment for the Installation Technician can at times be in any commercial or residential setting and corporate office. Alarm Detection Systems, Inc. maintains a quiet, non-smoking office environment.
The Fire Technician must be prepared to work in all types of weather conditions.
