Position Description
The Agnes Irwin School, a PreK through 12 all-girls’ school in Rosemont, PA, is looking for
an experienced Varsity Crew Coach for the 2026-2027 school year. This position is responsible for the growth and continued development of the Varsity Crew program at Agnes Irwin. This is a three season (fall, winter, spring) position and requires extensive sculling experience and background in management of crew boats and equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership of the Varsity Crew program as head coach
- Increase participation numbers of student-athletes participating in crew program
- Build and strategize training and competition plans for three seasons of rowing
- Fall - club training season
- Winter - training season
- Spring - high school competition season
- Coordinate practice sessions and training programs with an emphasis on athletic
growth and development as well as safety
- Attend all practices and regattas; coach team to build cohesive and competitive success on the water
- Promote a positive attitude, academic achievement, personal growth and leadership development through participation as a rower
- Manage and maintain program’s extensive equipment inventory
- Hire, if needed, and supervise assistant coaches
- Assist student-athletes in the college recruiting process
- Recruit student-athletes of high academic and athletic potential to Agnes Irwin
- Comply with all Agnes Irwin procedures and policies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience sculling and coaching sculling, and teaching skills and strategies that apply to the skill level of the student-athletes
- Experience developing rowing athletes, leading/coordinating a team of coaches, and developing and advancing a long-term program vision and plan
- Evidenced ability to maintain and consistently exemplify the highest standards of professionalism, leadership, sportsmanship and respect
- Proven organizational and motivational skills
- Demonstrated abilities in communication and community relations
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work with students, staff, administration, and parents
- Knowledge of appropriate safety measures to ensure the well-being of student-athletes
- Experience working with an Athletic Trainer, ensuring student-athletes receive proper medical and physical training services
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Boater safety course
- Ability to drive school van; tow crew boat trailer and chuckwagon
