Performs and supports seed testing activities using established protocols while coordinating daily lab workflow and providing technical guidance to ensure high-quality, reliable data. This role also supports the onboarding, training, and day-to-day coordination of seasonal and temporary staff during peak periods, ensuring efficient lab operations and adherence to company standards.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- → Coordinate and support daily workflow in the Germination Lab, ensuring timely and efficient completion of testing activities.
- → Provide day-to-day guidance and technical direction to lab staff, including seasonal and temporary employees.
- → Assist in planning and allocating labor based on daily operational needs in partnership with the Germination Lab Manager.
- → Support onboarding and training of seasonal and temporary staff during peak periods.
- → Monitor work quality and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety standards.
- → Prepare seed samples and conduct germination, vigor, bioassay, and other seed testing methods across multiple crops.
- → Perform lab-scale seed sizing, analysis, and GMO trait verification on seed and plant tissue.
- → Analyze test data, identify issues, and support troubleshooting efforts.
- → Operate and maintain data management systems and lab equipment.
- → Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company policies.
- → Support lab throughput and operational efficiency during high-demand periods.
- → Performs other duties as assigned.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ability to coordinate tasks and support workflow in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving mindset with ability to identify and address operational issues.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and ability to learn internal systems.
- Knowledge of laboratory practices and/or agricultural processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, agriculture, botany, or related field required.
- One (1) or more years of experience in a laboratory or similar operational environment.
- Experience working with seasonal or temporary workforce is a plus.
- Registered Seed Technologist (RST) certification or ability to obtain within two (2) years preferred.
Responsibilities

Requirements
~1 min read- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work required shifts and hours, including seasonal workload demands.
- Ability to distinguish variations in color, size, and shape.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and meet MVR requirements.
The approximate pay range in Illinois for this position is $21.54 - $26.92 an hour. Performance-based incentives are available based on individual and company achievements. Final compensation for a candidate is commensurate with experience, skills, and education.
