The Monitoring and Recalibration (MNR) team ensures that the performance of our cat-qubit Quantum Processing Units (QPU) is tracked and that the QPU remains operational at all times. As Team Lead, you will lead an interdisciplinary team of quantum experimentalists, data engineers and software developers to advance the automatic graphs of monitoring and recalibration. You will develop a product with two deployment environments: an internal version running across all of our QPUs to support R&D teams' experiments, and an external version shipped alongside QPUs sold to customers, to monitor and maintain the system in spec. You will collaborate closely with experimental and software team leads and experts to ensure the team's alignment with the company's needs and roadmap.
Own the monitoring and recalibration graphs by defining and maintaining the workflows: which measurements run, on which systems, at which cadence, in which order, and under which conditions.
Guarantee the quality of the dashboard data: own fit validation, thresholds and rejection criteria, make sure healthy and bad systems are properly identified.
Define and track the product performance metrics: translate the internal user and client needs into metrics, follow and improve them over time.
Operate and improve the service: keep the production MNR alive, track and fix failures, improve the efficiency of the graphs, and optimize the chip availability time for users.
Lead and grow the team: set technical direction and software engineering standards, run the team rituals, develop each team member and hire new team members.
Collaborate with other teams of the department: understand how other teams contribute to the MNR product, express the features needed by your team, prioritize requirements, agree on development timelines, make your team contribute to the shared codebase, and foster collaboration across teams.
Master's or PhD in experimental physics, engineering, or a related field, with hands-on experience on complex hardware systems (quantum systems, robotics, aerospace, or similar deep-tech environments).
Ability to turn a research prototype into a reliable product.
Solid experience of automated measurement and calibration of systems.
Strong data analysis and statistical rigor: fit quality assessment, residual and uncertainty analysis, and the ability to build and defend a validation methodology rather than tune thresholds by intuition.
Good Python proficiency and working familiarity with workflow orchestration (DAGs, scheduling, conditional execution), version control and CI.
Experience leading a team or project, ideally in an interdisciplinary setting mixing physicists and software or data engineers.
Excellent communication skills.
Fluent English; French is a plus.
