We are seeking an experienced Data Migration Consultant to deliver end-to-end data migration projects across a diverse client base, including nonprofits, charities, community service organisations and professional associations.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role where you will be responsible for shaping and delivering data migration projects, from discovery and design through to implementation and handover. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Solution Architects, Developers, Designers and Project Managers to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
You will also play a key role in guiding clients through their data migration journey, acting as a trusted advisor to ensure solutions are practical, sustainable and aligned with project goals.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and facilitate client data workshops to gather requirements and define data migration strategies.
- Design and deliver fit-for-purpose data migration solutions across varied client environments.
- Hands on end-to-end data migration into Salesforce, including planning, design, build, testing and deployment.
- Perform data analysis and develop clear, well-documented migration approaches and strategy designs.
- Lead data team members to ensure successful project delivery and contribute to capability uplift within the team.
- Collaborate with Project Managers on timelines, risks, budgets and stakeholder communication.
- Build strong client relationships and provide practical, consultative advice on data solutions.
- Ensure data quality, data referential integrity and data governance best practices are upheld across all deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Typically 8–10 years' hands-on experience delivering data solutions, with a strong track record in the Microsoft data stack (MSSQL, SSIS, SSDT, Visual Studio).
- Salesforce Migration (Crucial): Proven capability delivering full end-to-end data migration into Salesforce CRM, including familiarity with Bulk API, sandbox environments and the Salesforce object model.
- SQL Mastery (Crucial): Advanced ability to design, write and optimise complex SQL queries, views and stored procedures.
- Deep Data Expertise (Crucial): Expert-level skills across the data domain, including data migration, ETL, data modelling and pipeline development.
- Project Delivery: Successfully delivered 5 or more complex data migration projects end-to-end.
- Nonprofit CRM Experience: Experience migrating data from nonprofit systems such as ThankQ, NPSP, Nonprofit Cloud, Penelope or Carelink.
- Location: Must be based in Australia (preferably Melbourne) and have a valid permit to work full-time and long-term.
Skills:
- Strong ETL and data engineering capability, including pipeline development, transformation logic and optimisation.
- Accuracy mindset with a strong focus on data quality, integrity and accuracy.
- Solid understanding of the full data lifecycle, including ingestion, transformation, data management, orchestration, security and pipeline deployment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong problem-solving, documentation and stakeholder management capability.
- Ability to produce high-quality documentation, including data artefacts, mappings, process maps, architecture diagrams and requirements specifications.
- Experience working effectively across both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to guide and mentor team members, supporting professional growth within project teams.
- Passion for the for-purpose sector or prior experience delivering projects within nonprofit organisations.
