We are seeking a versatile and technically skilled Product Specialist – Commercial HVAC Controls to support our portfolio of building automation and energy control solutions. This role combines product expertise, technical sales support, field service coordination, and customer engagement to drive adoption and long-term success of our control products in commercial applications.

Your focus will span a range of systems including airflow metering products, water flow metering devices, VFD drives, and laboratory airflow control valves—providing hands-on expertise across critical components of smart building HVAC systems.

Responsibilities

Sales & Customer Engagement:

  • Support the sales team with deep technical knowledge across a range of commercial HVAC controls, including:
  • Airflow metering products (duct-mounted, thermal, differential pressure-based)
  • Water flow metering products (ultrasonic, mechanical, BTU monitoring)
  • VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) solutions for fans and pumps
  • Participate in system design discussions, submittal preparation, and specification reviews.
  • Assist in solution sizing and equipment selection based on performance criteria and energy goals.
  • Deliver product demos, training, and presentations to clients, reps, and partners.

Service & Technical Support:

  • Provide advanced technical support during system installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Guide customers through integration and configuration of HVAC controls within BAS platforms (e.g., Tridium Niagara, BACnet/IP, Modbus).
  • Support field technicians and service contractors in resolving product issues and optimizing performance.
  • Document recurring field issues and collaborate with engineering for continuous improvement and updates.

Product & Market Expertise:

  • Act as a cross-functional liaison between product management, engineering, and sales to represent the voice of the customer.
  • Stay current on HVAC control standards, laboratory ventilation best practices, and energy code compliance (ASHRAE, IECC).
  • Collect customer feedback and market insights to influence product development and feature enhancements.
  • Assist in product testing, pilot deployments, and field validation for new offerings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Systems, or related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience with commercial HVAC controls or related technologies, ideally in a hybrid technical/sales/support role.
  • Working knowledge of airflow and water flow metering, VFDs, and specialized lab controls (e.g., constant/variable volume airflow valves).
  • Familiarity with building automation systems (e.g., Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Tridium) and common communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LON).
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM tools (Salesforce preferred).

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience supporting or commissioning VFDs, flow meters, or lab ventilation products.
  • Knowledge of energy management practices, smart building technologies, and system-level HVAC design.
  • Certifications such as LEED AP, CEM, or Niagara N4 technician training.
  • Primarily office- and field-based, with frequent customer visits and meetings.
  • Standard business hours, Monday–Friday, with flexibility required to support client schedules.
  • Regular regional travel; occasional overnight or national travel depending on assigned projects.
