AMDA College of the Performing Arts is seeking engaged and responsible students to serve as Student Success Peer Mentors for the Summer 2026 semester.
Student Success Peer Mentors support students by providing mentorship in areas related to life skills development, academic success, and social wellness. Peer Mentors are primarily assigned to support first- and second-semester students, as well as transfer, 5Z, and 7AC students. However, students from any semester may be assigned a Peer Mentor by Student Success staff as needed.
Student Success Peer Mentors serve as leaders within the AMDA community and help promote student engagement, connection, and success.
Position Overview
The Student Success Peer Mentor supports student success initiatives by building positive relationships with students and providing guidance related to academics, campus resources, and community engagement. This role reports to the Student Success team and requires strong communication skills, leadership, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a role model by encouraging a healthy balance of academic, social, and college life
  •  Build relationships with assigned students through weekly check-in emails and one-on-one support sessions 
  • Host campus-wide events that provide resources and encourage community engagement
  • Share relevant information about academic timelines, campus events, resources, services, and policies as directed by Student Success staff 
  • Facilitate weekly student engagement initiatives, including educational and social programming 
  • Encourage student personal growth, academic success, and participation in campus programs and organizations 
  • Refer students to campus and community resources as appropriate 
  • Maintain an active, visible, and approachable presence for students 
  • Assist with administrative and programmatic tasks as assigned
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled AMDA student for the Spring 2026 semester 
  • Must be a 3rd–7th semester undergraduate or graduate student during employment .
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and must remain in good academic standing 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model and mentor for fellow students
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to different learning 
  • Exemplary attendance and conduct record as determined by the Student Affairs department
Time Commitment
Peer Mentor hours vary throughout the semester. Student Success Peer Mentors are expected to participate in:
  • Weekly Student Success team meetings 
  • Regular meetings with the Student Success Specialist 
  • Peer Mentor training sessions 
  • New Student Orientation & Move-In 
  • Welcome Weeks, Graduation, and other key departmental initiatives
Peer Mentor Training: 
  • Saturday, June 13th (10 AM - 4 PM) 
  • Monday, June 15th (8 AM - 6 PM)
Attendance at in-person training sessions is required.
Student Success Peer Mentors must also maintain a minimum of 15 office hours per month within the Student Life office to complete administrative and programmatic responsibilities. This commitment includes availability during portions of the academic break between semesters through the end of Week 15.
Students in their final semester (4th-semester AOS, 8th-semester BA/BFA, and 8th-semester MA/MFA) are welcome to apply but should carefully consider the time commitment required for the Student Success Peer Mentor role.
Employment Details
  • Must be enrolled for the Summer 2026 semester 
  • Student employees are paid minimum wage in accordance with applicable state and local law
  • Student Worker positions are hired on a semester-to-semester basis and continued employment is not guaranteed beyond the current term
