The Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) Analyst will support and lead the design and development of medical devices through the use of computational methods such as finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), while working within an interdisciplinary team of engineers and scientists evaluating novel design concepts for new medical products. Support of experimental activities to confirm device performance, as well as support of the regulatory approval process, is to be expected. 

Responsibilities

Perform FEA and CFD analysis to support new device design;

 

Collaborate with other members of the CAE Team to develop, implement, and standardize analysis methods for device design;

 

Interact with interdisciplinary teams of scientists and engineers to develop and optimize novel medical devices;

 

Provide timely support for other functional teams;

 

Research new technologies and integrate new capabilities into the CAE Team;  

 

Interact with experimental teams to confirm device performance and assist in the development of experiments;

 

Interact with regulatory teams to provide necessary analyses to assist device approval and resolve relevant questions from regulatory bodies;

 

Work to achieve operational targets with significant impact on departmental results;

 

Work independently under limited supervision;

 

May be responsible for entire projects within technical area;

 

May provide input on technical direction;

 

May be responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within technical area;

 

May manage technical projects for the whole life cycle, requiring responsibility to review others' work;

 

Experienced with broader technical knowledge to solve challenging issues and problems; and

 

Can independently perform investigations such as root-cause analysis.

Requirements

Required:

PhD in Biomedical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field and 1-3 years industrial or laboratory experience.; or Master’s degree with 3-5 years of experienc;

Experience with Abaqus FEA is required;

Ability to communicate well through written and verbal means is required; 

This role requires fluency in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data concepts, including the ability to critically evaluate AI outputs, improve workflows using approved tools, identify and mitigate bias or inaccurracies, and communicate AI driven insights clearly and responsibly to peers and managers; and

Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States.  Cook does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position. 

 

Preferred Skills:

Experience with medical device design is strongly preferred;

Knowledge of python programming is preferred; 

Experience with CFD and Ansys Fluent usage is preferred;

Experience of using CAD packages (Creo, AutoCAD, Solidworks etc) is advantageous; 

Experience working in multidisciplinary teams is beneficial; and

Exposure to regulatory support is desirable.
