Position Summary

The Lead Behavioral Interventionist is responsible for directing and safely supervising the youth in our care by providing guidance in behavior choices to youth by teaching social, self-help, academic and living skills. Supervise and lead Team Members by providing guidance, direction and ensuring staff training is implemented and current.

Essential Job Duties

  • Ensure the safety and supervision of youth,
  • Serve as an advisor and positive role model for youth,
  • Prevent and intervene in youth altercations and incidents, using the authorized state mandated training methods,
  • Effective use of the Behavior Modification System by providing positive reinforcement and redirection; manage advanced disciplinary issues and secure assistance from appropriate Team Members as needed,
  • Train, coach, supervise and assess Team Members on implementation and effective usage of the Personal Growth Model® (PGM); provide ongoing performance feedback and ensure applicable training is provided and implemented,
  • Maintain administration of AMIkids Targeted Behavioral Interventions including maintenance of related to systems (Point Cards, Rank Board, etc.),
  • Develop work schedules to ensure coverage within required ratios,
  • Supervise academic, vocational, and motivational activities on and off campus,
  • Notify management immediately of problems and/or incidents; communicate necessary information to appropriate team members and supervisors,
  • Complete incident, accident and behavioral reports according to standard operating procedures,
  • Provide one-on-one tutoring and computer lab assistance as needed,
  • Participate in the preparation of educational development plans,
  • Instruct youth in the general care and maintenance of school and equipment; may supervise the safe handling of Program property ensuring all appropriate safety measures and precautions are observed (e.g., marine vessels, vehicles, equipment),
  • Provide safe and sanitary facilities by managing custodial and maintenance tasks,
  • Ensure facility, equipment and supplies are compliant with all laws, regulations and policies,
  • Maintain the repair and maintenance log and inventory of related equipment,
  • Coordinate and oversee operation of transportation and security systems to ensure the safety of youth, staff and the general public; ensure youth are transported as needed and meet curfew requirements,
  • Transport youth and drive for other work-related tasks; Drive school vehicles as required in accordance with AMIkids Transportation Standards, Complete documentation including Incident Report forms, vehicle maintenance logs and facility maintenance reports,
  • Provide direction in the absence of the Director of Education and/or the Executive Director, as required,
  • Oversee the delivery of quality food services for the program ensuring nutritional compliance and food safety,
  • Administer first aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with the national standards,
  • May be required to supervise in day and/or overnight trips, special activities that involve recreational sports, and may require extended 16-hour workdays/24 hour on-call status,
  • Attend all required training/professional development events and maintain all appropriate certifications and licenses,
  • Attend and maintain appropriate crisis intervention and physical restraint training and certification as defined by state and contract requirements,
  • Attend and maintain CPR and First Aid certification by nationally recognized organization,
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree; preferably in Business Administration, Education or Criminal Justice, 
  • Two (2) years’ experience within an educational or youth service program.
