What We Offer
~1 min readThis position will work directly with attorneys on matters involving maritime casualties and vessel operations, insurance coverage disputes, construction defect and injury claims, and general casualty defense including commercial vehicle and premises liability cases. Day-to-day, that means managing large case inventories, coordinating written discovery and depositions, handling filings in state and federal court (including admiralty), organizing and summarizing medical and technical records, and helping attorneys prepare for hearings and trial. You'll communicate regularly with clients, adjusters, underwriters, and opposing counsel. You take initiative and keep cases moving without needing micromanagement.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Work directly with attorneys on a broad range of litigation matters, including:
- →Maritime casualties and vessel operations
- →Insurance coverage disputes
- →Construction defect and injury claims
- →General casualty defense matters, including commercial vehicle and premises liability cases
- →Manage a high-volume caseload and maintain organized case files from inception through resolution
- →Coordinate and manage written discovery, depositions, and other litigation deadlines
- →Prepare, file, and manage pleadings and other legal documents in Louisiana state and federal courts, including admiralty matters
- →Review, organize, and summarize medical, technical, and case-related records
- →Assist attorneys with hearing preparation, trial preparation, and case strategy development
- →Communicate regularly with clients, insurance adjusters, underwriters, expert witnesses, and opposing counsel
- →Proactively move cases forward, identify issues, and manage priorities with minimal supervision
Requirements
~1 min read- Minimum of three (3) years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably in a defense practice environment
- Experience in maritime, insurance coverage, and/or construction litigation is highly preferred
- Proficiency with Louisiana state and federal court e-filing systems
- Demonstrated experience managing large-volume litigation caseloads
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify issues others may overlook
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and thrive in a fast-paced litigation environment
- Paralegal certification is a plus but not required for candidates with significant relevant experience
