Job Summary:
The APTIM Federal Services LLC (APTIM) team has an opening for a craftsman or technician under its EPA Contract at the USEPA Test and Evaluation Facility in Cincinnati, Ohio. This candidate would be responsible for designing and assembling treatment systems for bench, pilot, and field-scale environmental research and development systems, as well as troubleshooting existing systems. Designs and technical drawings are provided by APTIM engineers.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Configure, design, and assemble treatment systems. “Hands-on” from the ground up.
- Create bill of material for system design.
- Specify pumps, pressure gauges, flow meters, etc. to be used in these designs
- Build frames to hold these systems from Unistrut, metal, PVC, etc.
- Plumb the systems using PVC, stainless steel, copper, HDPE, PEX, etc.
- Basic maintenance/repair/troubleshooting of APTIM equipment and existing treatment systems.
- Build concrete forms / Assemble ductwork / Woodworking / Basic carpentry / Painting/Rigging
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate degree in engineering technology, industrial technology, mechanical systems, environmental technology, construction technology, or a related technical discipline, with 5–7 years of relevant hands-on experience. An equivalent combination of technical training, apprenticeship, certifications, and directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated experience assembling, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical, plumbing, process, or environmental treatment systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, schematics, equipment specifications, and bills of materials.
- Working knowledge of pumps, valves, pressure gauges, flow meters, piping, tubing, fittings, and related process-system components.
- Working knowledge of the use of a drill press, vertical band saws, table saws.
- Ability to machine metal (lathe, milling, etc.) a plus.
- Forklift, aerial lift certification a plus.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, etc.)
- Ability to obtain and maintain access authorization for the USEPA Test and Evaluation Facility.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $32.69 - $40.87 Per Hour. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
