Sounds great – what’s the role in a nutshell?
The 3rd Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the engine room during assigned watches and the hands-on maintenance of machinery. Reporting to the 1st Engineer and Chief Engineer, this role focuses on the execution of the planned maintenance system and ensuring that all mechanical and electrical systems operate within safety parameters.
Your passion is:

- System Maintenance: Executing the maintenance and repair of auxiliary engines, pumps, purifiers, and sewage treatment plants.
- Watchkeeping: Maintaining a safe and vigilant engine room watch, responding immediately to alarms and technical irregularities.
- Operational Monitoring: Monitoring fuel, lube oil, and water levels, ensuring accurate soundings and efficient consumption.
- Technical Reporting: Assisting in maintaining accurate engine room logs, maintenance records, and inventory updates in the management system.
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring all safety equipment, emergency shut-offs, and fire-fighting systems within the engine room are fully operational.
- Resource Management: Keeping an organized inventory of spare parts and tools to ensure the engineering team has what is needed for repairs.
- Environmental Stewardship: Strictly following MARPOL regulations and company environmental policies during all operations and bunkering.
What are we looking for?

- STCW III/1 (Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch) or higher.
- Valid Seafarer's Medical Certificate (ENG1 or equivalent).
- STCW Basic Safety Training (Seaman’s Book/Matricula).
- Additional certifications such as Engine Room Resource Management (ERM) or advanced electrical training are highly valued.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar position (Junior Engineer or 4th/3rd Engineer).
- English proficiency (written and verbal).
- Solid technical knowledge of marine diesel engines and auxiliary systems.
- A proactive, hands-on approach to troubleshooting and mechanical repairs.
- Strong organizational skills and a commitment to engine room cleanliness and safety.
