About the Role
~2 min read👋 I’m Emily, the Director of Accounting at Ashby. I am thrilled to be hiring our second Senior Accountant to join our team! I joined Ashby two years ago and have built out the Accounting team in that time. My favorite thing about Ashby is how collaborative we are and how Accounting truly feels like a partnership here.
We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Senior Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and the month-end close process. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and thrives in a dynamic environment focused on long-term impact and timely execution.
As we prepare for our first financial audit and continue to scale, this role offers strong growth potential. You’ll play a key role in audit readiness, process improvement, and helping the team tighten close and reporting timelines. We’re seeking someone who embraces change and brings a proactive, solutions-focused mindset to evolving our accounting practices.
Note: We review all applications, and there isn’t a benefit to applying quickly. Take your time, look at the application questions and please submit before the application deadline! We aren’t able to take calls outside of the interview process, so please do not reach out to the team or Emily directly.

You are solutions-oriented. You balance creative problem-solving with strong operational follow-through.
You are detail-oriented. Accuracy and precision are critical in this role.
You are adaptable. You embrace continuous learning and actively apply new insights to improve your work.
You are a team player. You're willing to step into new areas — like Billing — when the team needs support, and you see cross-functional coverage as an opportunity, not an inconvenience.
You thrive with heavy day-to-day guidance. We're a supportive team and questions are always welcome, but we're looking for someone who takes ownership, digs in when they hit a new challenge, and brings solutions to the table — not just problems.
You prefer an in-office environment. This is a remote role and is best-suited for self-starters who excel in an independent setting.
You prefer the predictability of working in an accounting firm. We are a rapidly growing team and company, and the ability to stay flexible and thrive amid change is key to success here. Every day involves new challenges and this role will need to adapt to learning new skills.
You prefer a narrowly defined role. Our team is small and coverage matters — you may be asked to support Billing or other functions when teammates are out, and flexibility is essential.
You only have public accounting experience. This role is best-suited for someone who understands the day-to-day operations and challenges of working inside a growing company.
We’re building the next generation of enterprise software and we’re starting with a suite of products that empower talent leaders, recruiters, and hiring managers to be a driving force for revenue & efficiency via a holistic, data-centric talent strategy.
We are well funded and backed by great investors, including Y Combinator, Elad Gil and Lachy Groom. We have thousands of amazing customers including Snowflake, OpenAI, Shopify, Ramp, Notion, and Zapier (and many others who we cannot name!).
Our growth and retention metrics are best-in-class among our peers: we have tens of millions in ARR, growing >100% year over year, over 4,000 customers, very low churn, and many years of runway. We’ll share more details once we meet, but you now probably have a good idea as to why we're hiring for this role 😅.
Our interview process is thorough — we assess if you are the right fit for Ashby and we will provide ample information for you to determine if Ashby is the right place for you. The process for this role is as follows
Recruiter Screen with Michelle - 30min
Hiring Manager Interview with Emily - 45min
Practical Assessment
