Summary/General Description Of Job:
The Fuels Distribution Operator receives stores, transfers, and issues fuel through pipelines at main line or terminal stations. Receives fuel by tanker and ships fuel by pipeline and tank truck. The incumbent delivers fuel by tanker to day tanks and refueling aircraft. The incumbent prepares and checks receiving or ship’s documents. Connects lines, grounding wires, and loading and offloading arms or hoses to pipelines. . The incumbent assists in gauging tanks for water, temperature, and fuel levels. Checks pumping systems for correct operating pressure or unusual noises. Assists in performing preventive maintenance and repairs on terminal systems, and performs general housekeeping and grounds maintenance for terminal (vegetation removal), pipeline, and dock areas.
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
Receive, store, operates and distributes Eareckson Air Station facilities systems fuels and lubricants.
Receive, store, inventories, and issues JP-8 and MOGAS.
Inspects and controls corrosion for all fuel receiving, storage, and dispensing systems and facilities.
Conducts tests and analyzes bulk fuels in on-site lab.
Refuels military and civilian aircraft.
Disassembles, adjusts, aligns, and calibrates meters and gauges.
Maintains and repairs all liquid fuels dispensing systems equipment.
Performs modifications to systems in accordance with US Air Force manuals, technical publications, and manufacturer’s specifications.
Performs duties as Fuels Accountant utilizing the Fuels Manager Defense (FMD) subsystem.
Performs duties as Terminal Manager when required.
Performs lab technician duties when required
Perform accounting duties when required
Collects and disposes of hazardous waste substances in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal guidelines.
Trains for and performs Emergency Response Team member duties as required.
Performs related work as assigned.
Accountable For:
Operation of complex fuel system facilities, vehicles, and equipment for receiving, storing, transferring, and issuing fuel and related products.
Technical knowledge of government requirements for maintaining fuel systems.
Fuels stock fund accounting procedures to ensure that fuel products are received, issued, and billed properly.
Common safety practices and protective equipment used on a construction site.
Use of hand and power tools commonly used in the construction trade.
Understand and follow directions.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Work cooperatively and safely with others on common projects.Perform assigned duties in a timely, cost effective manner.
Work Conditions:
Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear to understand instructions, provide information and respond to safety warnings. Work conditions require the employee to stand; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; taste or smell; and work on scaffolding and ladders. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance and lift and/or move heavier objects with assistance. The employee may be exposed to toxic and/or carcinogenic substances during maintenance and repair activities.
Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):
Mandatory:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Four (4) years’ experience in JP-8, MOGAS, and diesel fuels storage and dispensing systems, mobile fuel equipment, refinery systems inspections and repairs.
Successful completion of fuels accounting course (SEI 40) within a year from date of hire.
Successful completion of Fuels Terminal Manager course within one year of hire date
Ability to comprehend training by Certified lab technician in performing laboratory duties
Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
Must pass a background check, drug screening, fingerprints, and a fit-for-duty physical exam; candidates must be medically cleared for long-term residency in a remote location with limited access to healthcare.
Preferred:
Certification in conducting tests on bulk fuel samples.
Valid commercial driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Fuels Terminal Manager Certification.
Fuels Accounting Course completion certificate.
Previous experience working on a military installation.
Previous experience working in a remote location.
