ASRC Federal Communications is seeing a Material Expeditor for our ISS2 contact supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Wake Island. Transportation from Honolulu, Hawaii to Wake Island will be furnished by government sponsored aircraft. Meals and housing will be provided by the program while working on the island. Employees will live in a dormitory housing environment and meals will be furnished daily through the cafeteria commissary. This role is perfect for someone who is able to remain away for long periods of time while working on island with occasional scheduled trips back to Honolulu. Key Role: Under general supervision perform a wide range of warehousing and expediting activities supporting our ISS2 — GSL mission at Wake Island.   This position ensures the efficient movement of materials, equipment and supplies between Honolulu freight office and Wake Island. Load and unload materials on and off freight vans or other vehicles. Move material by hand, hand truck, forklift or dolly. Receive purchased materials and other materials needing shipment, inspect for accuracy and organize shipments of materials to remote sites. Consult with customers to help meet their needs regarding the movement of materials. Utilize company information management systems (AIMS) in the receipt, shipment, and delivery of material, records, mail and/or equipment. Store, stack or palletize materials, not shipped immediately, per prescribed storage methods, and considering such factors as size, weight, quantity, spoilage, pilferage, and safety to others. Orchestrate the movement of hazardous cargo and/or materials with the assistance of the Environmental Department to certify requests to ship hazardous materials. Notify Transportation Management Office (TMO) and commercial airlines of hazardous material shipments. Work with legal to adhere to ITAR regulations. Package hazardous material under applicable regulations and properly store hazardous materials in the warehouse environment. Coordinate with engineers, project leads to consolidate Over And Above project materials in preparation for shipment. Contact vendors to follow up on overdue deliveries. Evaluate vendor performance and provide feedback to management to facilitate proactive continuous process improvement. Collaborate with Buyers. Track the status of material shipments Identify cores to requestor to facilitate return process and track return shipments with associated cores to ensure timely returns of cores to the vendor for credit. Plan and monitor transportation requirements with Honolulu freight office. Complete necessary documentation on all shipments to include air waybill, bill of lading, DD Form 1149, letter of justification for priority shipment and any other paperwork required for a specific shipment. Monitor all shipments to ensure that the shipment arrives at the required destination on schedule. Operate Government and company vehicles safely and under all laws Proactively plan and coordinate work activities with all affected parties and remote sites. Train new employees in completing shipping documentation and the receipt of materials in the logistics database. Other applicable duties as assigned Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or general education degree (GED). A minimum of two (2) years' experience using accepted warehousing methods, procedures, and material handling techniques. Possess a valid driver's License. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, lift gates and trucks; must pass forklift certification. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices and procedures. Ability to understand, speak, read, and write English. Demonstrated proficiency in accurately completing hazardous materials documentation. Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills and ability to be flexible while still maintaining high standards of professionalism in order to perform under deadlines and manage multiple priorities in volatile and diverse environments. Experience with MS Office Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience working with, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs). Must pass a background check, drug screening, fingerprints, and a fit-for-duty physical exam; candidates must be medically cleared for long-term residency in a remote location with limited access to healthcare. Physical Activity Requirements: Balancing; bending; kneeling; squatting; reaching; sitting; standing; walking; pushing; pulling; lifting; grasping; communicating in person, by phone or through written correspondence; hearing; and seeing. May be subject to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, dust, repetitive motions, and working outdoors in inclement weather.
