The Quality Resource Specialist is a key member of the QRM department and provides complimentary and supportive work for departmental programs including Quality Management System, Medical Staff Quality, Accreditation and Regulatory, Data Governance, Infection Control, and Risk and Patient Safety. The role will support data collection across the programs from the electronic medical record or other databases. Examples of data collection include specific CMS reported information, local audits such as handwashing, or other initiatives designed to improve patient care processes and outcomes in accordance with organizational goals. Additional duties include working closely with the Quality Resource Coordinators and helping to support administrative activities such as coordination of organizational and medical staff meetings and development of associated content.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Experience in healthcare, quality, data collection, chart review, or administrative support.
  • Advanced degree or additional education in healthcare, quality, data, or a related field.
  • CPHQ or similar quality-related certification preferred.
  • Healthcare quality, clinical, HIM, registry, audit, or EHR experience preferred.
  • Understands and applies metric definitions, regulatory standards and reporting expectations, to meet the quality reporting needs of specific programs.
  • Able to extract, organize, and manage healthcare data from the electronic health record and other approved data sources.
  • Reviews and validates data for completeness, accuracy, and consistency before use in reports, audits, meetings, or quality improvement activities.
  • Summarizes and analyzes information to identify trends, key findings, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Uses Excel, PowerPoint, or equivalent tools to organize data, prepare summaries, create basic tables or visuals, and support clear communication.
  • Communicates and presents information clearly to individuals, teams, committees, or other groups.
  • Works collaboratively with QRM teammates, clinical staff, medical staff, leaders, and other departments to support shared quality and safety goals.
  • Maintains confidentiality and handles patient information, provider information, peer review materials, and other sensitive data appropriately.
  • Works as a team member; will offer to assist others when needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Director; accepts additional responsibility in a cooperative and professional manner
