Environmental Specialist

The Environmental Specialist is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance with all applicable environmental regulations for the Red Diamond Plant in McArthur, Ohio from an air, water, and waste standpoint to support production of chemically manufactured energetic materials and packaged explosives used in commercial applications. The position is responsible for accurate and timely reporting to agencies by compliance calendar.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Liaise with regulators as appropriate on environmental permitting.
- →Prepare of a wide range of reports involving environmental regulatory compliance and environmental impact analysis
- →Complete all required reporting and updating for: RCRA Permits, Non-Title V Air Permit, NPDES Permits
- →Perform SWPPP and SPCC inspections as well as other internal site inspection to monitor and verify compliance with permit conditions.
- →Review all applicable environmental permits/programs and exemptions in the regulatory areas assigned (e.g. air quality, wastewater, stormwater, solid waste, drinking water, etc.) to ensure that all anticipated environmental related activities follow existing permits.
- →Recommend monitoring and/or corrective actions for any compliance deficiencies or improvements.
- →Assist in solving environmental concerns related to plant operations.
- →Remain current on all training requirements (applicable safety, RCRA, SPCC, SWPPP, etc.).
- →Assist in development or revision of required compliance plans (SPCC, SWPPP, )
- →Assist in data gathering and generation of environmental reports (TSCA, TRI, Tier II, PER etc.) as assigned.
- →Review new site projects and ongoing operations from an environmental basis and provide advice on environmental requirements.
- →Proactively work with operations on environmental issues
- →Assist with any spill response efforts.
- →Assist in development or revision of environmental work instructions as needed.
- →Ensure that all environmental records, information and reports required for regulatory compliance or per Company policy are maintained and completed as needed and on a timely basis and that all records and information are properly safeguarded.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, chemistry, or a related field
- Computer skills including Proficiency in Microsoft software programs.
