Each year we employ hundreds of Seasonal Staff to serve thousands of campers and our Directors and Assistant Directors are an integral part of this success. Each Camp Leadership Team is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, high quality and efficient programs. We are seeking an Assistant Director of Families for: Camp Blue Sky (Grades 1st- 5th) - Evergreen, CO

  • Work Schedule: Overnight camps are a 24/7 operation. The leadership team will create a schedule that provides you with one evening off/week and segments of other time off throughout the week.

  • Position Duration: In person Camp Leadership training May 1 - 3 preferred, but not required. Additional pre-season training takes place in Colorado May 16 - 29; overnight camp programs run from May 31 through August 1.

  • Compensation: Pay is determined based on position, additional responsibilities, relevant certifications, and staff tenure. Starting rate: $660/week

    • Room and board provided all Summer!

    • Relevant Certification Bonuses:

      • Wilderness First Aid: $100

      • Wilderness First Responder/EMT: $350

      • Teacher's License/MA: $200

      • Additional bonuses available for $100 - $400 per certification paid end-of-season

  • Ensure a high quality experience for our families, going above and beyond in communicating and providing outstanding customer service.

  • Be a positive role model to our campers and staff, helping support them as needed, and taking initiative as a leader around camp.

  • Complete behind-the-scenes administrative work to include uploading pictures, printing camper emails, and responding to phone calls and email communication.

  • Provide excellent customer service to our parents by addressing problems immediately, communicating clearly and frequently, responding to parent survey feedback, and guiding staff on Avid4 best practices.

  • Organize and take lead on camper drop off and pick up days for each session.

  • Sub in as an instructor to provide breaks on an as needed basis.

  • You find fulfillment in furthering our mission to “inspire kids to live active, outdoor lifestyles” and take pride in searching out how to provide our campers, parents and staff with an unmatched experience.

  • You can seamlessly move between a multitude of responsibilities; from nailing down your camp's logistics to leading engaging staff meetings to approaching parent conversations with empathy.

  • You are equally comfortable out in the field leading programs and supporting campers and staff as you are behind a laptop completing administrative duties with attention to detail and precision.

  • You can speak to multiple audiences with ease, foster meaningful relationships, and inspire everyone around you with our mission.

  • You successfully develop and empower your instructors while working with them side by side, being present in the moment, and leaving the weight of work challenges behind you at the end of your day.

  • All Camp Leadership must qualify to drive camp vehicles, i.e., be 20 years or older by the start of camp with a valid driver’s license for 3+ years and clean driving record. Must pass a driver training and assessment.

  • Must have some prior customer service experience, and a high comfort level of talking to families

  • Must have demonstrated expertise in at least one of our core sports (paddling, hiking, climbing, mountain biking)

  • Must possess a minimum of CPR and First Aid Certification at the start of camp. Wilderness First Aid (or WFR/EMT) and CPR certification preferred.
