~1 min readYou will be performing safety assessment of activities within the scope of the operations on the licensed and authorised sites as directed. You will lead other engineers in the conduct of assessment and safety case preparation, and provide advice and guidance to other areas of the business, external organisations and regulatory bodies in the compliance with the safety case.
- Hazard identification and analysis
- Deterministic assessment
- Probabilistic assessment
- Supporting ongoing periodic review of safety activities
- Supporting ongoing regulatory discussions with ONR/DNSR
- Interfacing with engineering and human factors substantiation teams
- Supporting junior members of the team to develop SQEP in the business
- Significant experience of Safety Case development techniques and practices - in Nuclear industry, other high hazard industry backgrounds may be considered
- Postgraduate Diploma in Nuclear Science & Technology (NTEC), or an equivalent qualification
- Hold Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with an Engineering Council-registered professional institution, or possess the qualifications and experience required to attain chartership
The site safety case team is currently around 30 strong and is growing and developing as we undertake the Dreadnought, Site Redevelopment Programmes & future submarine platforms both nationally and internationally. We are currently producing cases covering Astute and Dreadnought build and commission and have responsibility for Periodic Review of Safety. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
