Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Guide the mechanical engineering function for complex building system projects, from concept through construction support
- →Shape staffing plans, mentoring, and performance expectations for a growing team of design professionals
- →Review HVAC and plumbing deliverables for technical soundness, coordination quality, and code alignment
- →Build practical standards for QA, documentation, and repeatable project execution
- →Partner with leadership on forecasting, resource balancing, and department priorities
- →Serve as a senior technical advisor on system selection, constructability, and client-facing problem solving
- →Support proposals, scoping, and relationship development with owners, architects, and internal partners
- →Improve department performance through process refinement, accountability, and long-range planning
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline
- Eight or more years of experience in mechanical building systems design
- Professional Engineer license required, California license preferred or ability to secure reciprocity
- Demonstrated success leading teams, projects, and department-level initiatives
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and applicable building codes and industry standards
- Experience with design and documentation tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM workflows
- Strong communication skills and the ability to lead both technically and operationally
