Responsibilities

  • Inspect cast housings, gear trains, shafts, drums, and hydraulic control components after teardown and wash for cracks, wear, distortion, and reusable condition.
  • Use micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators to compare parts against dimensional standards and internal acceptance criteria.
  • Decide whether material should be released for reuse, routed for repair or machining, or removed from circulation.
  • Document findings in the production system to support traceability, throughput, and trend analysis.
  • Partner with teardown, machining, assembly, and technical teams to flag repeat failures and improve process consistency.
  • Maintain gauge readiness by verifying calibration status and proper tool handling.
  • Keep the inspection area safe, organized, and aligned with plant housekeeping expectations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two or more years of experience in quality inspection, mechanical repair, machining, manufacturing, or a related environment.
  • Hands-on experience with automotive components, mechanical assemblies, or industrial inspection workflows.
  • Confidence using precision measuring tools and interpreting dimensional requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, dimensional standards, and inspection criteria.
  • Comfortable using basic computer systems for tracking, recording, and status updates.
  • High attention to detail, sound judgment, and dependable follow-through.
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and move throughout the shift.
  • Comfortable in a fast-moving production setting with regular standing, lifting, and hands-on part handling.
  • Ability to work around industrial equipment, shop noise, fluids, and routine manufacturing activity.
