About the Role
~1 min readWe’re looking for a Licensed Architect (Texas) to serve as a strategic design lead for a leading commercial furniture dealership and interior design firm. You don’t need to live in Texas, but you must hold an active Texas license.
In this role, you’ll provide architectural oversight, ensure code compliance, and maintain design integrity across large-scale commercial projects. Working with global brands like Steelcase, you’ll bridge creative vision and technical execution while leading an offshore team of CET designers and drafters—ensuring every project meets both aesthetic goals and Texas building standards. Ideal for a licensed professional seeking high-impact flexibility. We are looking for a long-term partner to lead our Texas vertical, starting part-time and scaling into a full-time leadership position as we expand our US footprint.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Architectural Oversight: Serve as the primary licensed professional for Texas-based commercial interior projects, ensuring all designs meet industry and state standards.
- →Code & Compliance: Conduct thorough reviews for ADA accessibility, Texas Accessibility Standards (TAS), and local building codes to ensure life safety and compliance.
- →Sealing & Documentation: Oversee the preparation of construction documents and, where required by project scope, provide architectural sealing for interior tenant improvement (TI) packages.
- →Quality Assurance: Maintain "Architect of Record" standards across all phases of the design process, from initial space planning to final technical specifications. Availability to go on site.
- →Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the technical liaison between the offshore production engine and the domestic dealership leadership to ensure seamless project delivery.
Requirements
~1 min read- Licensure: Must be a Registered Architect in the State of Texas in good standing. NCARB certification is strongly preferred.
- Education: Professional degree in Architecture from an NAAB-accredited program.
- Industry Experience: Minimum of 4–8 years of experience in commercial architecture, specifically within the furniture dealership or Tenant Improvement (TI) sectors.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in CAD, Revit are required. Familiarity or proficiency in CET Designer is highly preferred. Experience in using rendering tools like Twinmotion, 3ds Max, Yulio or anything similar.
- Code Expertise: Deep, demonstrable knowledge of Texas Building Codes, Fire Codes, and ADA/TAS requirements.
- Leadership: Proven ability to manage or oversee remote teams and technical drafting staff with a focus on quality control.
