Role Purpose Supports the Arts & Culture programme team in the implementation of Arts & Culture programmes and contracts in compliance with British Council policies and procedures, including financial administration, reporting and data collection, evaluation, operational project delivery and managing relationships with delivery partners. Role Context This role sits within the Cultural Engagement (CE) Strategic Business Unit (SBU). CE brings together the British Council’s work in Arts, Education, English and research. With a global workforce of approximately 1,000 and an income of £200 million in 2024/25, CE delivers impact through research and insight, sector engagement, policy dialogue and a mixed portfolio of commercial and Grant and Partnership Funded (GPF) work globally. Our Arts teams in the UK and across our global network work together and with the arts and culture sectors to achieve significant impact and change by finding new ways of connecting and seeing each other through the arts, contributing directly to peace and prosperity. Our work is delivered through two global programmes: Art in Action, which connects UK and international artists and creative organisations, supports innovative collaborations and enables creatives to access new markets and audiences; and Creative Growth, which supports the UK and countries around the world to unlock inclusive and sustainable economic growth and innovation through advocacy, sector development and showcase programmes for the creative and cultural industries. In the Philippines, our Arts work supports the country’s aspiration to become a premier creative hub by 2030 through policy and capacity development in areas including creative placemaking, creative hubs, the creative digital economy and creative research. It also increases, expands and deepens UK and Philippine artistic collaborations and exchanges to build long-term relationships and networks, develop markets and create meaningful engagement with the UK arts and culture sector. Main Accountabilities Project Management * Be responsible for data management, including timely data entry, quality assurance of data, basic analysis of monitoring data and developing progress reports to meet the needs of funders. * Support internal compliance activities such as due diligence, records management, data collection and storage. * Manage grants administration, selection and evaluation, and procurement processes. * Manage events-based components and training activities within programmes. Support the Project/Programme Manager in implementing diversity mainstreaming action plans and contribute to their delivery. * Support the delivery of face-to-face and digital activities, ensuring relevant British Council standards, including accessibility and safeguarding requirements, are met. Relationship and Stakeholder Management * Manage relationships with clients, partners and stakeholders at an appropriate level. * Communicate with relevant stakeholders in a timely and effective manner. * Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers and hold them to account for delivering agreed services. Financial Support * Plan and report on project financial plans, budget expenditure and forecasting to Programme Managers and the Head of Programme Delivery. * Manage smaller project budgets as required. * Maintain clear and up-to-date records of all financial transactions in line with internal and external audit requirements. * Ensure relationships with vendors are maintained and payments are processed on time and in accordance with FABS online system (SAP Finance) guidelines. * Ensure compliance with British Council financial policies and procedures and, where relevant, external funder and partner requirements Managing Self and Others * Work independently and manage workload effectively against project deadlines. * Hold vendors and suppliers to account for delivering agreed services. * Actively contribute to an inclusive and anti-racist organisational culture, recognising personal biases and taking action to mitigate them. * Contribute to an environment where people feel valued, are treated equitably and are supported in their wellbeing and development. Role Specific Knowledge and Experience Minimum / Essential Requirements * Degree and/or equivalent experience. * Proven experience of working in the Arts sector or a related field. * Experience of working in a supporting role on programmes or projects. * Administrative, document management and financial administration experience. * Experience of using technology in project delivery. * Good understanding of basic concepts of monitoring and evaluation and how they contribute to effective project management. * Understanding of procurement, financial and reporting requirements of projects. * Ability to manage the delivery of face-to-face and/or digital activities using basic platforms such as Microsoft Teams, ensuring corporate standards are met, including accessibility and safeguarding requirements. Desirable Requirements * Experience and understanding of the Philippines’ arts and creative industries sector. * Experience of working with government partners and other arts and creative industries stakeholders. * Foundation-level Project Management certification. Language Requirements The British Council systems and global processes operate in English. Written and verbal proficiency in English is required.
