We are currently searching for an experienced Practice Assistant for our Philadelphia location to assist our Labor & Employment Section. Our Firm operates on a HYBRID WORK SCHEDULE!
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Type, proofread, format and edit correspondence, pleadings, memoranda, agreements and other legal documents under time-sensitive deadlines; may assist with drafting of pleadings and other documents.
- →E-file court documents in state and federal courts; knowledgeable on how to research rules and procedures to file in other jurisdictions and with other administrative agencies.
- →Create and index pleading and exhibit binders.
- →Open new client and new matters pursuant to new business intake process.
- →Create, maintain and update electronic and paper case files.
- →Schedule appointments, depositions, client meetings and maintain multiple calendars.
- →Assist with the tracking of litigation deadlines to ensure deadlines are met.
- →Prepare and submit expense/reimbursement reports.
- →Improve efficiencies by utilizing software applications (Firm and practice-specific), expanding on knowledge and learning new applications and skills to achieve a higher quality and more efficient work product.
- →Work as a team and in conjunction with other litigation colleagues in specified practice area(s) and office/Firm wide.
- →Liaise with document services for all document production projects.
- →Keep abreast of practice-specific laws, rules, processes and procedures.
- →Effectively communicate with witnesses, clients, colleagues and opposing counsel, as directed.
- →Conduct basic research/analysis, as directed.
- →Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 3-5 years litigation / legal experience, labor and employment experience a plus.
- High school diploma required. College degree a plus.
- Prior use of a document management system (NetDocs) a plus.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Outlook, Excel.
- Ability to organize/prioritize, and handle multiple time sensitive issues in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills and the ability to professionally interact with professionals, clients and staff.
- Takes initiative to anticipate needs and problem solve.
- Ability to work overtime, as needed.
