PURPOSE
Role Summary
The Senior Software Engineer – AI is responsible for designing, building, and scaling AI‑enabled solutions that improve engineering productivity, business processes, and customer outcomes. This role focuses on applied AI—integrating large language models (LLMs), machine learning services, and automation into enterprise systems—while maintaining strong software engineering fundamentals.
This engineer works closely with the Business stakeholders, Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, Application Support to deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable AI solutions aligned with enterprise standards.
Key Responsibilities
AI & Intelligent Systems Development
Design and develop AI‑enabled applications using LLMs, ML services, and intelligent automation
Integrate AI capabilities into existing enterprise platforms, workflows, and APIs
Build prompt strategies, orchestration layers, and retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) pipelines
Evaluate and improve model outputs for accuracy, reliability, and performance
Implement AI guardrails including logging, auditing, and response validation
Software Engineering Excellence
Design and develop well‑architected, testable, and scalable software solutions
Apply engineering best practices across design, development, code reviews, and CI/CD
Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and performance standards
Write clean, maintainable code using modern programming languages and frameworks
Troubleshoot production issues across AI and non‑AI components
Collaboration & Leadership
Partner with product owners, architects, and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to other engineers
Participate in design reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices
Lead by example in responsible, ethical AI usage
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
5+ years of software engineering experience
2+ years of hands‑on experience with AI/ML or LLM‑based solutions
Technical Skills
Experience with modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#, or similar)
Experience integrating AI/ML services, including LLM APIs (Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, etc.)
Hands‑on experience with:
Cloud platforms (Copilot, Microsoft Foundry and Azure strongly preferred)
REST / event‑driven APIs
CI/CD pipelines and version control
Solid understanding of:
Software architecture and design patterns
Data structures, algorithms, and system performance
Secure coding practices
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building enterprise AI tools (developer productivity, workflow automation, decision support)
Experience with RAG architecture, vector databases, and embeddings
Knowledge of AI governance, data privacy, and responsible AI principles
Experience with observability tools, monitoring, and performance tuning for AI workloads

Ability to travel up to 40% during the multi-year business transformation, will likely shift down to 20% after initial business transformation is complete.
