Brentwood School, a vibrant and diverse K-12 independent school, is looking for a full-time General Services Supervisor to begin July 1, 2026, reporting to the Facilities Manager. The General Services Supervisor serves as a senior operational leader of the Brentwood School General Services Department, responsible for coordinating and supervising custodial operations and event support activities across the East and West campuses. This role ensures the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and event execution are consistently met across the department and works closely with the Facilities Manager, Events team, Public Safety, and school administration to deliver seamless support to the Brentwood School community. This shift is for 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
~4 min read- →Coordinate and supervise all General Services Technicians across multiple shifts, providing guidance, support, and accountability
- →Serve as the senior supervisor on duty during assigned shift, overseeing all custodial and event support operations and serving as the escalation point for staff, events, and facilities issues
- →Plan, coordinate, and schedule all custodial cleaning operations and special cleaning projects for all academic and administrative buildings on East and West campuses
- →Plan, coordinate, and supervise all event support operations, including setup, monitoring, breakdown, and post-event cleaning across both campuses
- →Work closely with Events department to understand event schedules, requirements, and priorities; ensure General Services Technicians are properly deployed and briefed for each event
- →Oversee the setup and arrangement of chairs, tables, staging, risers, tents, heaters, lecterns, flags, and all other event furnishings and equipment
- →Ensure all event areas are pre-cleaned and fully prepared prior to each event and restored to full readiness following breakdown and post-event cleaning
- →Supervise trash and recycling monitoring during all events; ensure receptacles are placed, maintained, and emptied appropriately throughout each event
- →Serve as the evening escalation point for any issues arising during events or custodial operations, using sound judgment to resolve situations promptly and professionally
- →Conduct routine inspections of all areas across both campuses to ensure work expectations and cleanliness standards are consistently met
- →Supervise recycling and waste disposal operations across both campuses
- →Oversee the proper use, maintenance, and storage of all cleaning equipment including buffers, power washers, vacuums, and floor polishers; provide usage training to General Services Technicians
- →Responsible for cleaning equipment selection and evaluation; interface with vendors to ensure quality and cost-effective products and supplies are used
- →Inventory control of all housekeeping supplies, cleaning equipment, and event materials; organize and distribute as needed
- →Manage event equipment inventory systems, ensuring accurate tracking, organized storage, and proper distribution before and after each event
- →Continually appraise, test, and implement new cleaning techniques and staffing methods for efficient and effective department operations
- →Conflict resolution with staff, events, cleaning schedules, and other issues that may affect operations
- →Serve as the primary liaison between General Services staff and administrators, division heads, department heads, the Facilities Manager, Theater staff, Public Safety, and other school departments
- →Ensure all school divisions are informed of the status of their event or cleaning requests in a timely and professional manner
- →Support Public Safety with evening emergency preparedness and response
- →Work closely with the morning shift supervisor to ensure smooth handoffs, consistent standards, and clear communication across all shifts
- →Observe and report, through the work request system, any problems, deterioration, damages, safety or sanitary hazards, and acts of vandalism to the Facilities Department
- →Assist the Facilities Manager in preparing the annual budget for custodial equipment replacement and cleaning supplies
- →Assist the Facilities Department with receiving, moving, and distributing packages and deliveries across campus as needed
- →Participate in “Right-to-Know” and OSHA training; maintain working conditions and standards that comply with all health and safety codes
- →Must be accessible and available in the event of emergencies or when needed to meet the ongoing missions of the school
- →Regularly sit, talk and hear
- →Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.

- →Works in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments in a variety of weather conditions
- →Works in different locations around both campuses
- →Must comply with Brentwood Staff Handbook

COMPENSATION: Brentwood School's employment requirements vary, from positions requiring no experience to those needing 20+ years of expert experience. Our salary range includes all levels of experience, from $30 - $35 per hour. Salaries are determined based on years of experience, education, full- or part-time status, the category of the role, and the number of months of worked per school year. Salary ranges do not include benefits, i.e. 403b retirement matching, paid lunchtime, free breakfast and lunch, free parking, subsidy toward medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D plans, and generous time off. The pay range is an estimate and is not guaranteed. If hired, your actual base salary will be determined by your education, experience, and category.
