Shipping Supervisor

Job Summary: The Shipping Supervisor is a working supervisor position.
Responsibilities
~1 min read· Oversees the day-to-day operations of the shipping departments
· Develops and leads process and productivity improvements
· Inspects shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies management and/or purchasing personnel
· Works closely with Customer Relations in determining when the ship-via needs to be updated to ensure on time delivery to our customers
· Responsible for the training of new team members in proper process and procedures in all shipping departments
· Collaborates with Distribution Manager and Plant Management on order sequencing and process improvements
· Is a main point of contact for any questions related to processes and procedures in shipping
· Prepares necessary paperwork for shipments (examples include Bills of Lading, Customs Paperwork, Packing Slips, Declaration of Dangerous Goods Paperwork)
· Leads a team of 15-25 employees
· Completes performance reviews and performance/behavior management for employees
· Other projects or duties as assigned
· Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in distribution, shipping, logistics or related field.
· Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience leading a large team of direct reports
· Must have intermediate to advanced computer skills with a demonstrated ability to learn quickly
· Ability to travel 10% of the time to Lakeview, Michigan
· Ability to work 9-5:30 with the ability to work overtime preferred, may regularly work six days a week and up to 12 hours/day based on volume.
· Ability to work in stressful situations and maintain professionalism
· Must have excellent time management and prioritization skills
Requirements

· Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field is preferred
Physical Requirements: Prolonged standing and walking. Some lifting (not to exceed 50 lbs.) is required. Some daily computer work is required.
