Capital District Transportation Authority

Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA), the Regions number one mobility provider, is looking to fill the Assistant Maintenance Superintendent position.  Working at CDTA, you will be a part of a team that provides essential services to the Capital Region. 

The Assistant Superintendent of Maintenance assists the Superintendent in supervising the daily operations of the Maintenance Department. This role ensures that CDTA provides safe, reliable, and cost-effective transportation to the public by overseeing fleet maintenance, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with company policies and union contracts.

Key Responsibilities
Operations Management (Leadership / Critical Thinking)
  • Assist the Superintendent in supervising daily operations of the Maintenance Department.
  • Ensure CDTA provides safe and reliable transportation at a reasonable cost.
  • Manage staff scheduling and work assignments to meet service needs.
  • Interpret and apply union contract provisions in daily supervision.
Technical & Safety Oversight (Technical Aptitude / Safety & Security)
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of the bus fleet and support vehicles.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Monitor fleet condition and coordinate preventative maintenance programs.
Administration (Digital Literacy / Professionalism)
  • Utilize maintenance software to track work orders and maintenance history.
  • Prepare reports using Microsoft Excel.
  • Maintain communication with Operations regarding vehicle availability.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Significant experience in Maintenance and bus operations/supervision.
  • Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Knowledge of company policy and union contracts.
  • Leadership: Leadership courses and significant managerial experience required.

Compensation
Grade 617 ($74,669 - $94,246)
