Position Summary
CDTA is looking for a creative and technical Senior Planner to shape the future of our transit infrastructure. In this role, you will lead the design and planning of major capital projects, including mid-sized infrastructure, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), and mobility hubs, while contributing to other critical Planning Department initiatives. You will work at the intersection of urban design, engineering, and operations to create safe, accessible, and efficient transit environments. What You’ll Do
- Design Infrastructure: Alongside CDTA’s engineering consultants, develop conceptual designs for customer-facing transit facilities.
- Manage Projects: Oversee engineering consultants and guide projects from concept to detailed design.
- Collaborate: Work with internal teams and external partners to integrate transit into regional development.
- Engage the Community: Present projects to key stakeholders and advocate for transit-oriented design.
- Innovate: Support the deployment of new mobility services like bikeshare and carshare.
- Secure Funding: Assist in identifying and applying for grants to fund capital improvements.
We are looking for a candidate who demonstrates:
- Design Thinking: The ability to visualize and create functional, people-centric transit spaces.
- Project Leadership: Skills in managing consultants, budgets, and timelines.
- Communication: Proficiency in presenting complex ideas to diverse audiences.
- Technical Skills: Experience with design software (Adobe Creative Suite) and planning tools.
- Collaboration: A track record of building consensus among stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Engineering, or Architecture.
- Experience: 3+ years in transportation planning or design.
- Skills: Proficiency in graphic design and public speaking is highly valued.
