Community Action leads the way to eliminate conditions of poverty and create opportunities for people in the Washington County area. Be the change you want!

Job Position Description:

Community Action is seeking an Auditor/Inspector who thrives on technical problem-solving and mission-driven work. As an essential part of our team, you won't just be performing inspections; you will be "diagnosing" homes to improve the health and safety of our community's most vulnerable members.

By combining technical diagnostics with family education, you will empower households to lower their energy costs and live in safer, more sustainable environments

Abbreviated Duties List:

  • Perform energy audits, combustion testing, and lead testing to determine the most cost-effective weatherization measures.
  • Act as the principal technical contact for private contractors, conducting in-progress and final inspections to ensure work meets state and local building codes.
  • Provide education to families regarding home hazards like radon, mold, lead-based paint, and carbon monoxide.
  • Install minor energy conservation materials, adjust water heater temperatures, and install safety alarms.
  • Maintain accurate client records, analyze energy consumption data, and complete rigorous technical reports.

Abbreviated Requirements:

  • At least 2 years in energy conservation, weatherization, or a related field.
  • Ability to operate diagnostic equipment, power tools, and ladders. You must be comfortable with the physical demands of the job, including crawling for up to 2 hours a day (attics/crawlspaces).
  • Strong ability to take accurate measurements and perform mathematical calculations for energy usage reports.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with low-income, disabled, and minority populations.
  • A valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and valid personal vehicle insurance.

Required Certifications (Or ability to obtain within 180 days):

  • Shell Technician / Energy Analyst / Diagnostic Technician
  • Lead Renovator
  • Note: BPI HEP Energy Auditor certification must be obtained within one year of hire.

What Will Make You Stand Out:

  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (both oral and written).
  • Prior experience with REM/Design computer audit tools.
  • Previous weatherization auditing and testing experience.
  • Experience in social service programs serving low-income individuals in Washington County.
