About the role


Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is seeking a new Head of Client Services to lead the Client Services teams through a pivotal season of growth and transformation as CAP delivers its newly refreshed Debt Help Service . This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned professional to bring strategic leadership, sector expertise and a passion for impact, to a refreshed and future-focused CAP.


Reporting directly to the Services Director, you will oversee all aspects of Client Services operations, providing guidance and leadership, managing a team of four. You’ll be instrumental in shaping a high-performing team that delivers exceptional services with excellence, innovation and partnership.


You’ll bring a deep passion for CAP’s kaupapa and vision of helping people build financial resilience.


You will be an expert in the Building Financial Capability Sector.


You’ll be skilled at building a team and championing them towards CAP’s refreshed services and Vision.


Key areas of responsibility include:


  • Lead a team of 20+ and directly manage a team of four, providing strategic oversight, direction & leadership of CAP's Debt Help Service, ensuring impact and long-term sustainability
  • Ensure service excellence and effective management of the Client Services Operations
  • Develop and maintain key strategic partnerships to enable the effective delivery of Debt Help and strengthen CAP's position in the sector
  • Lead the Client Services team to deliver CAP's Vision, values and impact model, while growing in Client Services Competencies
  • Provide expert coaching and advice to the Client Service team
  • Lead Client Services in continuing to embed CAP’s refreshed Debt Help service and drive continuous improvement of that service

You’ll also bring relevant experience for the role:


  • 3+ years proven experience in a similar role
  • Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills
  • Proven experience within the Building Financial Capability sector
  • Familiarity with financial institutions, systems and practices in Aotearoa
  • Strong experience balancing both strategic and operational priorities and requirements
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent strategic and decision-making abilities, with a proven track record of developing and outworking a strategic initiative
  • Able to identify improvement opportunities in existing processes and initiate projects or improvements to those processes
