Capstone Logistics – Food & Beverage Distribution Operation
Position Overview
Capstone Logistics is seeking a hands-on Shipping Lead to provide direct leadership and operational support for our shipping operation within a fast-paced, high-volume food and beverage distribution environment.
The Shipping Lead is responsible for helping lead the day-to-day execution of picking, loading, shipping, and overall warehouse operations. This position is highly visible on the warehouse floor and requires a leader who is willing to work alongside associates, enforce standards, solve problems in real time, and ensure that processes are followed safely and efficiently.
The ideal candidate is a working leader who understands that successful warehouse operations require strong processes, accountability, communication, and a constant focus on safety and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
Shipping & Warehouse Operations
- Provide direct leadership and oversight of the daily shipping operation.
- Coordinate and support order picking, staging, loading, and shipping activities.
- Ensure orders are picked, staged, loaded, and shipped accurately and on time.
- Monitor workflow throughout the shift and adjust resources as needed.
- Identify bottlenecks, delays, and process issues and take immediate corrective action.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and operationally efficient warehouse.
- Help ensure the overall well-being and operational readiness of the warehouse.
Team Leadership
- Provide direct leadership, direction, and coaching to warehouse associates.
- Be highly visible and hands-on on the warehouse floor.
- Set clear expectations for productivity, attendance, quality, safety, and work performance.
- Coach associates when processes or performance standards are not being followed.
- Assist with training new and existing employees.
- Lead by example and maintain a professional, accountable work environment.
- Communicate operational issues and employee concerns to management.
Handheld Computer & Systems Support
- Assist associates with handheld computers/RF devices and warehouse systems.
- Help troubleshoot common system, scanning, picking, and loading issues.
- Ensure associates are properly using technology and following required system processes.
- Identify system or equipment issues that may impact productivity or shipping accuracy.
Process & Best Practices
- Ensure associates follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices.
- Maintain strong adherence to customer and company operational standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflow, productivity, quality, and safety.
- Help implement process improvements and reinforce changes with the team.
- Ensure processes are followed consistently rather than allowing shortcuts that create safety or quality risks.
Safety & Quality
- Maintain a strong safety-first culture throughout the warehouse.
- Immediately address unsafe behaviors, conditions, and practices.
- Ensure associates are following proper lifting, material handling, loading, and equipment procedures.
- Support warehouse safety inspections and corrective actions.
- Maintain high standards for product handling, cleanliness, housekeeping, and food safety.
- Take ownership of keeping the work environment safe, clean, and organized.

- Willing to jump in and help when the operation needs additional support.
- Able to balance productivity, safety, quality, and customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous warehouse, distribution, shipping, or logistics experience.
- Previous lead, supervisor, or team leadership experience.
- Experience with RF scanners/handheld warehouse computers.
- Experience with picking, loading, staging, or shipping operations.
- Experience in a food, beverage, grocery, or distribution environment preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and work on the warehouse floor for extended periods.
Schedule
Regular Days Off: Saturday & Wednesday
The Shipping Lead must be available to work the remaining scheduled days and be flexible based on operational needs, shipping volume, and customer requirements.
