Reporting to the Managing Director, Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer, the Senior Manager, Business Operations will serve as a highly trusted lead to manage the efficient and effective running of the Strategy & Innovation function. This role combines business operations leadership and cross-enterprise coordination in equal balance, helping drive clarity, alignment, and disciplined execution across the function while ensuring the leadership team’s operating rhythm is effectively managed.

 

This role is for a proactive, detail-oriented leader who combines strategic thinking, strong execution, sound judgment, and exceptional organizational discipline. The ideal candidate will be comfortable moving between executive-level content and hands-on project support, with the maturity to handle confidential information, the poise to work with senior leaders, and the initiative to anticipate needs before they are issues.

 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a partner to the Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer, driving clarity, alignment, and follow-through across priorities, forums, and operating rhythms of the Strategy & Innovation function.
  • Lead coordination and execution of leadership forums including leadership team meetings, offsites, town halls, special topics, and all-hands meetings, including agenda development, pre-reads, supporting materials, and action tracking.
  • Set, track, and articulate organizational objectives and OKRs; synthesize progress, issues, decisions, and results into clear executive-ready narratives.
  • Develop, edit, and collate content for executive presentations, including Board updates, regulatory readouts, Top Issue updates, leadership updates, and other senior-level materials, partnering across the organization to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Support organizational governance and operating rhythms, including decision logs, action tracking, documentation, leadership cadence management, and follow-up on key commitments.
  • Partner with Corporate Communications on enterprise-specific communication needs, messaging alignment, leadership updates, and team-wide communications.
  • Act as liaison with Corporate Real Estate and business partners on moves, restacks, workforce needs, seating requirements, and related coordination.
  • Lead and coordinate recognition, engagement, and team-building efforts that help keep the organization connected, informed, and energized.
  • Act as approval delegate where appropriate across designated enterprise tools and processes.
  • Prepare and maintain Strategy & Innovation function materials using tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Copilot, Office, etc.; maintain org charts, contact lists, birthdays, and other team reference materials.
  • Support purchasing, team events, employee recognition gifts, talent recruiting coordination, onboarding logistics, and other function needs in alignment with Schwab guidelines.
  • Help resolve technical or logistical challenges quickly by working with Schwab support teams and applying strong knowledge of collaboration tools, audio/video conferencing, remote access, and meeting technology.

 

 

To ensure that we fulfill our promise of “challenging the status quo,” this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Internal Schwab experience with demonstrated strength in business operations, strategy, project management, executive support or related roles.
  • 10+ years of business operations, program management or equivalent experience.
  • Comfort working with senior executives and familiarity with executive-level forums, expectations, communication standards, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Strong event planning, facilitation, stakeholder management, and organizational skills in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Ability to influence outcomes without direct authority and operate effectively as an individual contributor with Director-level judgment and ownership.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with curiosity, sense of urgency, flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, judgment, discretion, professionalism, and ability to handle confidential or non-public information appropriately.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of the organization; ability to build strong partnerships and interpersonal business relationships.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, Office 365, Workday, Ariba, Concur, and collaboration tools; ability to learn and apply new tools quickly.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional leadership forums, offsites, workshops, team engagement efforts, talent processes (recruiting, development, training, evaluations), and financial management (budgets, actuals, planning).
