The Property Claim Senior Manager –Individual Renters Claims is responsible for the direct leadership, oversight, and performance management of 3-4 teams handling individual Renters (HO‑4) property claims, primarily involving personal property (contents) losses. This role involves leading a team of frontline claim managers. This role ensures consistent claim quality, regulatory compliance, productivity, and professional development through coaching, guidance, and technical expertise in HO‑4 and TLL policy interpretation, investigation, and resolution.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance management for 3-4 teams handling individual Renters claims.
  • Ensure claims are investigated, documented, reserved, and resolved in compliance with policy provisions, company guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure workload distribution based on complexity and staff experience to maintain balanced workloads and productivity.
  • Review claim files for accuracy, timeliness, coverage appropriateness, reserve adequacy, and documentation quality.
  • Provide technical guidance to staff regarding policy interpretation, coverage determinations, exclusions, and damage evaluations.
  • Approve settlements and payments within assigned authority and provide authority guidance to staff as appropriate.
  • Monitor individual and team productivity, quality metrics, cycle times, and corrective action plans where applicable.
  • Support and reinforce proper drafting of coverage letters and written claim correspondence.
  • Address escalations, inquiries, and consumer complaints related to HO‑4 and TLL Renters claims.
  • Ensure compliance with internal audit standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives, training development, and cross‑functional projects as assigned.
  • Complete employee evaluations, provide ongoing feedback, and participate in personnel administration including hiring, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
  • Establish and enforce performance, quality, and productivity standards for claim handling.
  • Review workflows, processes, and procedures to identify opportunities for efficiency and quality improvements.
  • Coach employees on time management, workload prioritization, and effective claim handling practices.
  • Document performance discussions, corrective actions, and development plans in accordance with company policy.
  • Promote a professional, collaborative, and accountable team environment.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of individual Renters and TLL policies, personal property (contents) coverage, estimating, and claim handling principles.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience within property claims required.
  • Strong background in building and contents claim handling.
  • Excellent analytical, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and hold employees accountable for performance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with claims management systems, MS Office Suite, Xactimate and business technology.
  • College degree or equivalent claims management experience required.
  • Active adjuster license(s) as required by state regulations, or ability to obtain and maintain required licensing.
  • This is primarily a desk‑based leadership role; routine travel is not required.
