About the Role

As an Assessment Worker, you will be a key point of access into structured treatment services. You will ensure people receive the right support, at the right time, informed by evidence, best practice and individual need.
No two days are the same. You will balance engagement, assessment, partnership working and safeguarding responsibilities, using strong judgement and professional curiosity to support people safely and effectively into treatment.
Responsibilities

- →Engaging people affected by substance use and providing advice, support and recovery-focused interventions to enable timely access into treatment.
- →Completing high-quality, personalised assessments using appropriate screening tools to identify needs, risks and the most effective pathways into care.
- →Booking nurse-led alcohol assessments where clinical input is required and working closely with clinical colleagues.
- →Liaising with referring agencies and partners to provide updates on engagement and outcomes.
- →Delivering robust harm-reduction advice and brief interventions at triage stage.
- →Managing referral systems and documentation, ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping.
- →Identifying, responding to and escalating safeguarding concerns in line with policy and best practice.
- →Contributing to service performance and access targets, supporting equitable access for priority and treatment-naive populations.
- Knowledge of the issues facing substance misuse including social care, welfare benefits, health, and emergency accommodation
- Experience of community based support/outreach practices
- Knowledge of safeguarding risks and escalation process
- Communicate confidently and effectively, verbally and in writing
- Respond flexibly to the demands of the post
- Work as a member of a team
- Show a capacity to work alone and the ability to keep calm under pressure
- Understand and have a commitment to the principles of equal opportunity and diversity
- Employ a professional, empathetic, and non-judgmental attitude towards service users
- Show commitment to facilitating positive outcomes for service users
- 25 days holiday (+ bank holidays) rising by 1 day for each years’ service capped at 30 days
