Are you ready to help shape the future of travel and hospitality at the new Hotel Polaris at the U.S. Air Force Academy? Hotel Polaris is seeking an exceptional Assistant Security Manager to join our team and play a vital role in shaping the success of Hotel Polaris, an instant icon on the hospitality landscape of Colorado Springs. Your efforts significantly influence the unique and distinctive experiences we seek to deliver to our guests and team members alike. Responsibilities

  • Assist the Security Manager with daily department operations, shift leadership, and officer performance. 
  • Lead assigned shifts by deploying officers, assigning duties, following up on tasks, and supporting incident response. 
  • Responsible for the supervision of the overnight security officers.
  • Conduct pre-shift briefings and communicate key updates related to occupancy, events, VIPs, safety concerns, and property operations. 
  • Coach, train, and support security officers to improve professionalism, accountability, guest service, and policy compliance. 
  • Ensure officers follow department SOPs, hotel policies, emergency procedures, documentation standards, and service expectations. 
  • Respond to guest, team member, and operational concerns with urgency, discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment. 
  • Assist with incidents involving medical calls, disturbances, suspicious activity, alarms, lost and found concerns, access control issues, and emergencies. 
  • Ensure reports, logs, and supporting documentation are completed accurately and on time. 
  • Maintain a visible security presence throughout public areas, back-of-house areas, exterior spaces, parking lots, and event areas. 
  • Monitor and use security systems, including CCTV, access control, key control, radio communications, and reporting tools. 
  • Support investigations by gathering information, reviewing available footage, documenting findings, and escalating concerns appropriately. 
  • Communicate professionally with officers, hotel leaders, guests, law enforcement, fire department, EMS, and other partners. 
  • Protect confidential guest, team member, and company information. 
  • Identify safety, security, and operational risks and recommend improvements. 
  • Support a department culture focused on prevention, safety, professionalism, accountability, and hospitality. 
  • Assist other departments as needed when security responsibilities are not compromised. 
  • Support the property’s POC/Manager-on-Duty (MOD) program. 
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the Security Manager or hotel leadership. 

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED or minimum of 2 - 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Experience in a comparable AAA Four Diamond/Four Star hotel or higher is highly desired.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Proven ability to handle a multitude of tasks in an ever-changing environment.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications preferred.
  • Must be able to understand, speak, read, and write in the basic English language.
  • Able to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends and able to perform multiple tasks.
  • Experience using computers and software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
