We are looking for a Benefits & Leave Administrator to support team members, supervisors, and the People Operations team through the timely and effective management of benefits and leave processes for all team members at Sound.

 

This role requires a strong commitment to high-quality customer service and an expert-level understanding of regulatory, governing, and operational requirements related to benefits administration, leave administration (state and federal), L&I processes, and the interactive ADA accommodation process. A foundational knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and legal requirements, along with strong facilitation skills, is also essential.

Administer, direct, and review employee benefit programs, including but not limited to medical, dental, vison, HSA, FSA, 401k, COBRA, life insurance, long term disability, EAP, and others
Administer benefits changes with team member employment status changes
Mediate between benefits providers and employees, such as by assisting in handling employees' benefits-related questions or taking suggestions.
Manage vendor partnerships with external benefit partners
Direct preparation and distribution of written and verbal information to inform Team Members of benefits, compensation, and personnel policies.
Design, evaluate, negotiate, and modify benefits policies to ensure that programs are current, competitive, and in compliance with legal requirements.
Serve as the point of contact for worker’s compensation (L&I) claims
Fulfill all reporting requirements of all relevant government rules and regulations, including the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).
Identify and implement benefits to increase the quality of life for Team Members by working with brokers and researching benefits issues.
Manage the design and development of tools to assist Team Members in benefits selection, and to guide managers through compensation decisions.
Plan and conduct the benefits portion of new-Team Member orientations to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
Ensure company compliance with federal and state laws, including reporting requirements.
Maintain the organization's EEO filing.
Research employee benefit and health and safety practices, and recommend changes or modifications to existing policies.
Maintain records and compile statistical reports data
Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations as needed.
Assist in preparing and maintaining personnel records and handbooks.
Other duties as assigned
Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance: Premium 100% paid by Sound for team member and child coverage to age 26, depending on plan selected. Spouse/Domestic Partner coverage available at team member’s cost.
Life Insurance (2x annual salary + additional $25,000): paid by Sound
Long Term Disability Insurance (60% monthly salary): paid by Sound
Retirement Plan: Sound contributes 3% to team member’s plan; team member is 100% vested.
Retirement Plan - 401(k) Plan, pre-tax and/or Roth: team member may contribute to their own plan.
Health Savings Account: Sound contributes $1,133.33 (individual) or $2,266.67 (family) for eligible team members, pro-rated for new hires in first year.
Flexible Spending Accounts: for health care and dependent day care costs (pre-tax)
EAP: Employee Assistance Plan
Vacation: 18 days per year, increasing with years of service
Holidays: 9 days per year
Sick Leave: 12 days per year
Bereavement Leave: for death in the family
Parking: Free at all Sound sites
Training: Free in-house professional training and $400 annually + 3 paid days approved off-site training
Service Award: at 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 & 40 years of service
  • Serves as primary point person for FMLA leave administration and tracking, including all correspondence with the Team Member, verification of eligibility, notifications, correspondences, and tracking of leave usage and availability 
  • Serves as primary point person for state Paid Leaves in eligible states SOUND utilizes including but not limited to WA state PFML leave administration and tracking, including all correspondence with the Team Member, notifications, correspondences, and tracking of leave usage and availability 
  • Serves as the primary point of contact and point person for the Union Leave Donation Bank for administration and tracking of donations and leave request recipients 
  • Act as the ADA administrator for internal ADA requests, ensuring timely engagement with members who may need or request accommodations, maintaining proper documentation, and seeking resolution in each individual case 
  • Maintains a high degree of confidentiality. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

  • High Attention to Detail 
  • Familiarity with HR information systems (Preferably UKG)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including speaking and presenting to groups of people 
  • Demonstrated organizational, time management, and project management skills 
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment 
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience with all Microsoft Office products. 
  • Perform all functions of the job with accuracy, and within established timeframes with minimal supervision. 
  • Demonstrate professional courtesy to others and ability to maintain confidentiality 
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret, evaluate and formulate action plans based upon data 
  • Collaborate with others in a respectful manner 
  • Meet attendance and punctuality standards 

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree preferred or equivalent experience required
  • 4+ years experience working in both benefits administration and leave processing, required 
  • 2 years experience in an healthcare, preferred 
  • CEBS, CBP, CLMS, SHRM-CP and/or PHR, preferred  
  • Complete and successfully pass a criminal background check 

  

Ability to work a regular, full-time, Monday-Friday, Hybrid work schedule of in office at least one day a week, and remote work, that is fast paced with frequent interruptions. Possibility of extended hours or flexibility needed to meet needs of Team Member base on occasion.
